Publisher's summary

If you are serious about understanding Bitcoin and why it is creating a monetary revolution, this is where you need to start. For the past decade prominent economists, media outlets, and financiers have dismissed Bitcoin while it has grown exponentially - a phenomenon strikingly similar to the beginning of the internet. Controversy always accompanies transformational technologies.

To understand Bitcoin, you first need the answers to questions such as:

  • What does it mean when people say money needs to be “backed” by something?
  • Why do we need to tax if we can just print money?
  • Why do financial institutions always get bailed out?
  • Why have education, healthcare, and rent become so expensive?
  • Why is wealth inequality continually getting worse despite government spending more on social programs?

Bitcoin is the alternative to our current financial system, which benefits few at the cost of many. To understand why Bitcoin is the answer, you need to know how this revolutionary technology works. This book explains it at a technical level in precise yet simple language. Buy this book, and be on the right side of history.

Great book. Highly recommend

Very short and simple description of money and Bitcoin. Appreciated the explanation of the technical parts of Bitcoin in a way that was easy to comprehend. The reference diagrams were also helpful.

Excellent distillation of all you need to know about Bitcoin and the history of money

The hard copy of this book served as my foray into Bitcoin and I decided to get the audiobook.

The narrator does an excellent job.

Most importantly, everyone who gives a hoot or has questions about money, monetary policy, and economics should read this book, if for nothing more than to understand money and learn about Bitcoin without or misconstrued portrayal by mainstream media and crypto hype men alike.

Better than 5*

Amazing listen. Concise but thorough history of money and its properties, the history of banking including an in-depth look at fractional reserve banking and explains in detail how the government and fed ‘prints money’ and expand or contract credit.

That is just the primer before they even get into bitcoin and when they do they do the best job I’ve heard yet of explaining finite field math, elliptical curve cryptography, public private keys, block chain construction, pretty much everything you need to know to really understand bitcoin.

This is a must read if you have or plan on investing in bitcoin. Also a great book to share with anyone you want to orange pill. Kudos, Mr. Yakes. Bravo.

A must for crypto investors and enthusiast’s

I thought I knew Bitcoin, the fundamentals and how it affects the world at large. Well I have to admit it! I didn’t know shit!!! What a brilliant and detailed book about the FACTS (Bitcoin, Federal Reserve, currency, and how flat the world we live in truly is). Since completing the book this pst week, I have recommended it to no less than a half dozen crypto friends. Upon reading the book I actually diverted a few other investments into Bitcoin. Do yourself a favor if you are an investor, thinking of becoming a crypto investor, or simply want to learn more about why Bitcoin is Bitcoin Mad read this book.

Great methodical overview

Although some facts sound very dated now (miners in China), this book is very thorough and accessible at the same time.
I have bought the paper version as well, to study the charts better.

Excellent book that dives deep, but not too deep!

Such an incredible book. There's so much to understand about Bitcoin and most of it is extremely complex. But this book really kept it within reach for the average reader and precoiner. I'll be recommending this book often!

Too much fluff

The author is supposed to explain bitcoin, he goes back to the history of Homo sapiens! This book may have some points but they are lost in its fluffy context.
