Publisher's summary

"No strings, no rings." That's Luke Archer's motto. As the champion quarterback for the New York Empire - not to mention a self-made billionaire - Luke has given up on serious relationships. Women only want him for one thing: the thrill of being with a superstar. And he likes it that way too. But when his best friend announces he's retiring from football to spend time with his wife and kids, Luke feels like he's missing out on something much bigger than his career.

The assistant concierge in Luke's luxury high-rise, Miranda Tate fled her family's dairy farm to come to the bright lights of New York City. She works hard to move up and sends her spare earnings home to her brother. When she and Luke meet, there's an instant sexual attraction which turns steamy quickly, but they're in completely different leagues. Could Miranda be just the woman Luke needs to win the most important game of his life?

I really enjoyed this

This is the second book I've read by this author and I really enjoyed it even more than the first book. There were even moments when I couldn't help laughing out loud. I definitely recommend it!

Great

Hearing the story over again but from a different characters view point was fun and interesting... Parts of book 1 being replayed and finding out the other side of the story was a new twist..

Entertaining Light Romance

The 2nd book of the Wagers series was an entertaining, light romance, which could be enjoyed without reading the 1st book.

NFL football player Luke was a refreshing change - a rich, good-looking man who wasn't dominating. selfish or violent. No, Luke was thoughtful, funny, hard-working and looking for an equal life partner, rather than a brainless sex slave.

Likewise, Miranda was a smart, ambitious professional who enjoyed helping people as a concierge. Miranda wasn't looking for man to "save or rescue" her. She didn't expect Luke to fix her problems, even when her slimy boss was trying to sabotage her career.

The romance between Luke and Miranda was slow and realistic; the supporting characters added depth and humor to the plot. There were explicit sex scenes but nothing violent or degrading.

Really good

I loved the characters and the story line. I was cheering the whole time for Luke and Miranda. And as cliche as it sounds money cannot buy you happiness or love. Good read highly recommended😊

QB almost tosses girl instead of football!

Star quarterback Luke Archer sees the handwriting on the wall after his best friend marries and announces his retirement and the handwriting becomes even clearer when he's injured during a game. Sidelined he pursues Miranda Tate, a small town girl trying to make it as a concierge in Luke's NYC's high rise apartment building.

This book is a little more serious than I thought it was going to be. Luke is a complicated man just trying to figure out where he belongs in the world after his football career ends, and if he can find someone who loves him for the person he is and not the superstar that people see. It's interesting to see Luke and Miranda build upon the instant attraction they feel towards one another, to something deeper and real.

This is the first audiobook from Nancy Herkness I've listened to, but it won't be the last! As a matter of fact I have to download the first book series because All Star is the second.

I've listened to a couple of audiobooks from narrator Lauren Ezzo and I put her right in the middle range as a narrator but I feel like she's getting better and I would definitely buy a book that she narrates.

Inner feminist still having a tantrum

When I read the first book in this series, I was at war with my inner feminist who kept telling me to dig deeper in literature for meaningful stories. I fought a valiant battle, listened to the 3 books and enjoyed each.

This is the star athlete, financial guru who wages something irreplaceable if he does not find love within a year. It's even corny when I write that - but it's entertainment, not brain surgery.

Nancy Harkness develops characters whom you like, grow to understand their complexities and even though you know that happiness is going to be the end result, your inner Cinderella cheers for them.

My inner Gloria Steinem needs to get her own audible account.

Very good listen

I enjoyed this book very much. It had a good plot and had me hooked almost immediately. The only think keeping it from being 5 stars is that there wasn't enough relationship development between the main characters other than in bed. I have read Nancy Herkness' other books and she has done better with this part, however, this story sucked me in almost immediately; I was addicted to the story almost from page 1. Overall, I highly enjoyed the book and the narrator did a great job.
