Vi Keeland
A sexy new stand-alone from number one New York Times best seller Vi Keeland.
Before I even met Donovan Decker, I knew his shoe size. You see, I’d gone away for a few days, and in my haste to get out of the airport, I’d grabbed the wrong suitcase.
After checking out the expensive footwear and tailored clothes, I dialed the number on the luggage tag hoping maybe Mister Big Spender might have my bag. A deep, velvety voice answered, and as luck would have it, he had my suitcase, too.
Donovan and I met at a coffee shop to do the exchange. Turned out, it wasn’t just his voice that was sexy. The man holding my luggage was absolutely gorgeous, and we had an immediate spark. He got me to admit that I’d snooped in his bag and then convinced me to make it up to him by letting him buy me coffee. Coffee led to dinner, dinner led to dessert, and dessert led to spending an entire weekend together. Donovan wasn’t just handsome with a panty-dropping voice. He was also funny, smart, and surprisingly down-to-earth for a man who wore $700 shoes. Did I mention he also did my laundry while I slept? Definitely too good to be true. So what did I do to repay him for his kindness? I waited until he was in the shower, then ghosted him. My life was too complicated for such a great guy.
In the months that passed, I thought about Donovan often. But New York City had eight million people, so what were the chances I’d run into him? Then again, what were the chances I’d run into him a year later...when I’d just started dating his boss?

Dual POV. Standalone. One untranslated French phrase. Both narrators read well. Listened at speed 1.95 & 1.65. Trigger warnings: drug use; neglected children; death of a parent caused by cancer; domestic violence; multiple rapes; 2 fights; suicide attempt; robbery leading to hospitalization.
Autumn accidentally claimed Donovan's bag at the airport's baggage claim after a bachelorette weekend in Las Vegas. Autumn contacts Donovan to swap bags and they end up spending the weekend getting to know each other, they fool around but don't seal the deal, then Autumn leaves Donovan without a note never having given him her last name. Donovan fell for Autumn but she wasn't ready for her HEA yet. Months later Donovan is assigned a pro bono case to defend a minor and Autumn is the social worker for the kid. The two get their second chance, both reveal dark pasts, go through some tough stuff, and are engaged in the end. JP

The female lead was also damaged, but she had quite a bit of work to do. However, considering why she was damaged, it made perfect sense that she would struggle. But the hero did not have to save her (which I LOVED). She took herself into her own hands, did what she felt needed to be done and took the proper steps on her own.
These characters balanced each other out in a believable and heart-rending way (yes, I ran for tissue a couple of times). Add the perfect supporting cast, just enough intrigue by external forces plus superb narration and you've got a winner with this book.
Well balanced and beyond touching

The overall story was very sweet and engaging. I liked that the author took their time in telling the story and kept readers guessing. A great romantic weekend read!
Great story and voices!

The characters were fantastic and had great chemistry and the storyline was definitely good. I just don't think I connected with it as much as I hoped or as well as her others (The Invitation is still my top Vi solo book to-date). It was good, and I do definitely recommend it for everyone! Things that occurred in the story made me uncomfortable, also another reason I think it wasn't at the top of my faves of hers.
Andi Anrdt and Sebastian York is my favourite narrating duo - love them!
