NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

A Most Anticipated Book of 2022 by Cosmopolitan, Goodreads, PopSugar, and more!

From the author of the Goodreads Choice Award winner The Spanish Love Deception, the eagerly anticipated follow-up featuring Rosie Graham and Lucas Martín, who are forced to share a New York apartment.

Rosie Graham has a problem. A few, actually. She just quit her well-paid job to focus on her secret career as a romance writer. She hasn’t told her family and now has terrible writer’s block. Then, the ceiling of her New York apartment literally crumbles on her. Luckily she has her best friend Lina’s spare key while she’s out of town. But Rosie doesn’t know that Lina has already lent her apartment to her cousin Lucas, who Rosie has been stalking—for lack of a better word—on Instagram for the last few months. Lucas seems intent on coming to her rescue like a Spanish knight in shining armor. Only this one strolls around the place in a towel, has a distracting grin, and an irresistible accent. Oh, and he cooks.

Lucas offers to let Rosie stay with him, at least until she can find some affordable temporary housing. And then he proposes an outrageous experiment to bring back her literary muse and meet her deadline: He’ll take her on a series of experimental dates meant to jump-start her romantic inspiration. Rosie has nothing to lose. Her silly online crush is totally under control—but Lucas’ time in New York has an expiration date, and six weeks may not be enough, for either her or her deadline.

Was really anticipating this book after hearing Armas’ first book. Def a slow slow anticipation for stuff to happen. The second half and ending where meh. I personally didn’t like the voice of Lucas nor the dual perspective. Had to play it at 2.0 speed, it was too slow for me.

4.25 Overall

I loved this book! I feel for the characters immediately and was rooting them on the entire way. Ah Lucas! Listening to the narrator was fantastic. I highly recommend.

Loved it!

Rosie and Lucas are amazing. The characters are so well written that it was impossible not to love them

Amazing.

I wanted to live this books as much as its predecessor, but I just did not. While in the end the story has some very sweet parts, overall it is a drag to listen to. I spent the first half of the book hate listening at 2Xs speed hoping it would get better. It eventually did, but I honestly find myself thinking I would have been better off having read something else entirely. This writer is clearly talented and I enjoy her style, but this book was largely a miss. The performers read so slowly (and I am southern so I can handle slow talkers) I kept the entire book on fast pace. 3/5 average is sadly generous.

Too much time hate listening

I sped up the audio to 1.25 on this one. The male narrator was a tad ugh but the storyline is sweet and cute. A good beach or pool read.

Give it a try for yourself

There were parts in which it was so hard to listen to, due to the story and the narration. Had some very cringey moments.

It’s okay

This was such a great story. A little longer than it needed to be but I enjoyed it. Talk about your cute meet! I was hooked right away. Rosie and Lucas are what love is meant to be.

Great romance

Really enjoyed the book but the guy narrator was weird. It ended up really messing with the flow of the book.

Good book, weird narrator

I have so much and so little to say. The narrators ruined this book. The female voice sounded like she was about to break into song at any moment. Her performance was so theatrical and unnatural. Lucas. Oh Jesus. I had to listen to the book at 1.7x so I could survive his chapters. The breathy, seductive(?) voice was such a fail. Overall, being distracted by the narrators, it dawned on me how much I disliked the book. I’m over female characters that have no self confidence or awareness. Even in chapters towards the end of the book, she’s still questioning if he likes her. Omg. Don’t waste a credit. If you want to read, don’t do the audio version.

Do NOT do audio version

I’m always nervous about reading new authors and even more so about listening to new narrators. I was blown away by it all. The story was great with perfect character development. I love a slow burn! They all made a huge fan out of me. I can’t wait to listen to the next one.

Pleasantly Surprised!
