About this listen

From USA Today best-selling author Tamara Leigh, the seventh book in the inspirational Age of Faith series - featuring Lady Laura Middleton of The Yielding and Sir Lothaire Soames of The Vexing.

Far better to love without profit...

Even if she must sell herself in marriage to the highest bidder, Lady Laura Middleton is determined to provide her daughter a home and protector. But when Queen Eleanor presents her cousin with four suitors, among them is one who believes Laura betrayed him 10 years past. Despite her attempts to discourage his pursuit, he is determined to have her for the dowry needed to save his lands. Should he prevail, how is she to shield her daughter from the enemy who lurks within his walls? And what of her heart? If she reveals the truth of her betrayal, might he love her again?

Than love not and reap bitterness

Beware the Delilah, my son. Beware the Jezebel - advice Baron Lothaire Soames should have heeded as a young man. Now in need of funds, he faces marriage to the woman he lost to scandal. Though he vows to find another way to return prosperity to his lands, his former betrothed proves his only hope, and he grudgingly vies to become her worthiest suitor - only to be struck by how little it takes his heart to pick up where it left off. Can he forgive what cannot be forgotten? More, will she forever yearn for the man who fathered her child?

My favorite part is how Baron Soames reacts to Lady Laura's telling of her story. I cried when I read it and when I listened to it.

Such a great story of forgiveness and redemption. The characters feel authentic to their situations and the struggle to let go and let God.

Fantasy redemption story!

I enjoyed this chapter in the Age of Faith series. It's a little harder to listen to because of the violence and pain Lady Laura suffered. However, the author puts all right in the end. Excellent read.

A little harder

Frustrating twists and turns, lots of secrets. In the end , all was made right. Light romance.

Absolutely loved the story of Laura and Lothaire. Lots of heartache, confusion and mystery but a beautiful love story finally brought to a perfect resolution. I’m sure there are numerous threads in this one that will lead us in to some further stories and revelations in this wonderful medieval series by Tamara Leigh.

Heartache, Mystery, & Love Resolved

It was lovely to see the relationship between Lothaire & Laura come full circle. From a previous book in the Age of Faith, Lothaire seemed like a titled jerk, but in the Awakening, you see all of the small trespasses against him that shaped him into the man we thought he was. In essence, he had a good heart and would be an even better husband for the heroine. Laura was depicted realistically after her sexual trauma and it was satisfying to see her come out of her shell shock and develop into a fully functional mother and wife. I have really enjoyed the skillful/weighty writing of the entire Tamara Leigh book/audio collection. I especially want to give a shout out to Mary Sarah Agliotta for her voice characterizations. She is an excellent narrator, so far ahead of many I have have listened to. I can't wait until "The Reviling" is published. Thanks Audible for finding great material and terrific narrators like Mary Sarah.

Love Finds a Way!

This is one of the best reads! It’s hope filled and shows the power of God. You absolutely can be happy even after tragedy through Him. The main characters are so dimensional as they learn, and grow. It’s a love story within a love story, action packed, betrayal and drama, in a good way. Not all of it done by the queen who is actually a drama queen.

Goosebumps galore

As always, Tamara delivers. I am never disappointed, except for when the story ends. Just can't wait to read the next novel.

superb!

Struggle a bit to stay with the story. The dragging out of the confession was too long
