Publisher's summary

Literary Americana fiction filled with humor and heart.

When his wife, Angel, is killed in a head-on collision, Gomez Gomez feels he can't go on - so he doesn't. He spends his days in the bushes next to the crash site drinking Thunderbird wine and his nights cradling a coffee can full of Angel's ashes. Slow, sure suicide, with no one for company but the snakes, Elvis' ghost, and a strange kid named Bones.

Across town, Father Jake Morales plays it safe, haunted by memories of the woman he left behind, hiding his guilt, loss, and love behind a thick wall of cassock and ritual. Then a shady business deal threatens the town - and his good friend Gomez Gomez - and Father Jake can't just stand by and watch. But what happens when the rescuer is the one in need of saving?

The Beautiful Ashes of Gomez Gomez is quirky, heartfelt, and deeply human. Lives and hopes collide in the town of Paradise, stretching across decades and continents in this epic story of forgiveness, redemption, and love.

Woven like a Silk spider's web

. . . And I was wrapped up in the lives of its characters unable to stop listening until the end. Jake, Honey, Early, Corfu, Elvis, Bones and more. The ending chapters were stunners. 5 stars to Buck Storm. He took no short cuts to tell this story.

Story within a story

The story is slow and meandering. Just what I needed. In this world where everything is in a big rush it was refreshing to listen to the meandering story of Gomez Gomez and the characters within the story.
Father Enzo weaves a story inside the main story, but I kept looking forward to hearing it and its ultimate conclusion. It did not in the way that I thought it would.
Which is refreshing in itself.
I really liked this book and would recommend it. The narrator was spot on also.

Struggled to finish

Slow, slow start. Then the story became interesting until the story about the fisherman and the mermaid. The fisherman story seemed like just something to fill space - it was exhausting. Do not waste a credit.

Disappointing

This got off to a slow start, then became really interesting. Then it bogged down in the middle, and the story within a story of the mermaid and Greek fishermen was really irritating. I did not like the direction the story took at the end...very disappointing. Honey and Jake were really annoying. The narrator did a good job.
