Publisher's summary

Intolerance is a beautiful thing...when you understand it from God's point of view.

There is a spiritual struggle for the hearts and minds of our young people. Cultural tolerance is pervasive in today's world. It seems to show up everywhere - in education, government, society...even within the church.

The influence of cultural tolerance is leading a generation to believe:

  • Each person creates his/her own moral truth
  • There is no universal moral truth
  • We are intolerant if we do not endorse the behavior and lifestyle choices of others

You can counter the influence of cultural tolerance.

In The Beauty of Intolerance, speakers and authors Josh and Sean McDowell provide clarity on today's cultural view of tolerance, detect its inaccuracies, and offer practical insight on:

  • Who created moral truth and its purpose
  • How to live out a biblical view of tolerance to people with whom you disagree
  • How to lead your kids and family to understand God's gift of sexual morality, why moral truth is universal, and how to experience love and acceptance that isn't based on performance

Raise up a generation to embrace a values system based on God and his word so they can live as "children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which [they] shine like stars in the universe" (Philippians 2:15 NIV).

Very timely book

Good balance between holding the Christian line, and being loving while building relationships with those we disagree with. Definitely worth reading. Great narrator.

Very well said

As a 26yo that loves Jesus and logic but also struggles to share my beliefs at the risk of making people feel unloved or even worse, hated, breaks my heart. His approach is loving and truth based. Love it!

Excellent

I would recommend this book to Christ followers and non-believers alike to help bridge differences and bring understanding in both directions.

Looking at generational misunderstandings

This book takes a look at possible miscommunications between generations and our current day. well this book does discuss the truth of absolute objective truth It does not dismiss the hearts and intentions of those who see much of reality being subjective, which is a prevalent view among millennials and honestly the general population in our current time. It is definitely worth a read, my only real complaint is that the examples are kind of cookie cutter and I feel like it may be hard for some to practically apply the lessons in this book, though good, to their individual situation.

A Christ-like approach to culture

The author does an exceptional job of balancing the love that God has for ALL people while still remaining firm on objective, biblical truth. As one who desires to meet the culture, especially the youth and those who feel isolated or misunderstood, this book is a wonderful resource in understanding how to approach such topics as sexual intercourse outside of marriage, homosexuality, and others! Highly recommended for both unbelievers and believers alike.

Insightful

This is an excellent guide to Christian apologetics pertaining to current world issues, especially concerning today's youth.
Likely useful for Christian parenting, but not exclusively.
Brought up a good number of ideas and approaches to sensitive topics in the world today that don't even remotely involve a bull horn, which is encouraging and verymucha good thing. Will definitely read again, probably more than once.

Fantastic!

Excellent and timely for this generation of parents and college age students to help build and strengthen the next generation. It also is very encouraging to parents and educators who are Christian as well. Highly recommend.
