About this listen

All teenagers come of age. But in this spellbinding story by the bestselling author of Ill Will, one girl’s awakening requires something special. Something strange. Then it can all work like a charm.

Ever since they were orphaned, Tyler has kept close tabs on his sister, Shannon. He has to, considering her weird and risky obsessions. Now she has a new one: an inexplicable crush on an odd-looking stranger. And what Shannon wants from her unwitting “honey boy,” Tyler can’t begin to fathom. Not until he follows his sister into the darkest corners of her desires.

The Beckoning Fair One is part of Disorder, a collection of six short stories of living nightmares, chilling visions, and uncanny imagination that explore a world losing its balance in terrifying ways. Each piece can be read or listened to in a single disorienting sitting.

It starts weird, seams like a story of a stocker girl I suppose, but it evolved into something unexpected and the end was surprising.
The performance was good ( I do listen at 1.3)
Overall liked it a lot.

Interesting little story

Brilliant on all levels and quite terrifying. Short and bittersweet. Both the writing and the performance were pitch perfect.

Wonderfully creepy

This story was very good, but it was very creepy. I enjoyed it. There were parts I didn't fully understand.

…than this is for you. A spooky, funny, chilling spell of a story. Perfectly narrated.

If you wish Shirley Jackson would send us a story from the other side….

This was a very odd story. It was really creepy. Which is what I think that they were going for. It had sexual references . If that bothers you don’t listen to this story. The narrator I’ve listen ti reading other stories and I enjoy his voice and how he reads them

Different

I'm about 50/50 on the story. Overall, I think there were far too many concepts stuffed into an hour. Some parts of the story dragged on in detail where it didn't add much/clarify things, whereas other parts were rushed. Also, hearing a narrator vocalize a sexual scene is a whole other level of creepy.

Not for everyone

I was not a fan of this series of stories. They all seemed to plateau to nowhere. This one was much the same.

Just so so

This short story was a head twister. It kept me wondering. Good story, good narrator.

head twister!

This story seemed to have real potential from the beginning, but did not follow any of the predictable patterns I had in mind. It just got weirder and weirder until the end. I was left with many unanswered questions.

Weird
