About this listen

Inspired by actual events. An FBI agent unknowingly falls for the femme fatale that he is investigating in a separate case involving murder for hire. The Big Wow has a complex cast of hard-boiled characters that'll keep you on the edge of your seat... guessing till the end. Gripping, dark and edgy - this ain't your grandmother's pot boiler!

"This reads like a modern-day Raymond Chandler novel!" - Lawrence Spencer, author

"We've never seen a villain like One-Eyed Win on-screen or in print!" - Rosalind Lorrey, crime analyst

Awesome listen

Where does The Big Wow rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is such a well-written and superbly read crime novel, it ranks high on my list. The plot moves along with unexpected twists. Kept me captivated all the way through.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The story line was intriguing enough but the writing style kept me engaged, waiting to hear what the writer would think of next.

Which character – as performed by Chris Abell – was your favorite?

Chris is a good job with all the characters but "Jane" came most to life for me.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Has to be the big twist at the end (no spoiler alert here).

Good but confusing

Jumps around and feels disjointed at times. However highly entertaining characters. Recommend just for that and the dialog. Good narration.

The Big Wow - YES

A furious paced thriller, where the action is non stop and the bodies keep piling up.
It is an amazing book! The plot is complex with the main character living multiple lives and sometimes random people end up dead, so you've got to concentrate on what's happening.
Narration is first class, clear and concise.

It's 5* and I enjoyed it so much it's going in my re-read pile, and I'm going to look for more from this author.

Couldn't follow it

This might have been a good story but the way it was written confused me. I couldn't keep the characters straight and the timeline was all over the place. I wasn't sure what was happening half the time or who was doing what. I know this was supposed to be based on actual events but it sure didn't seem terribly believable to me. The narrator was good. He put a lot into his performance and kept me listening. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Twisting!

This is a book like no other, there are twists in twists , back and forth in the time line.
I was sure that I'm going to give up on this book but somehow the author knew exactly when and how to keep it interesting holding you in wanting to know what's coming, I'm truly amazed how he succeeded in doing so.
The story itself is good, drives you crazy every so often but the author knew exactly how to hold me in and keep me interested that I couldn't put it down and listened to the book with only one food break, now it's time for dinner.
I still don't understand what happened here,
I actually liked a book with a good story which seems like the chapters are in the wrong order but no the author knew exactly what he was doing, by this weird mixture keeping me confused I was being pulled in suspense the whole time.
It's a first for me, I fill like coming off a a drug.
Ok:
Perfect Performance !!!
Good Story !!!

About recommending I really don't know,
The book is good even excellent,
the question is about the reader can he follow the story which twist you like a roller coasters !
But yes I would recommend it after all because the story itself makes up for it all !!

Good narration confusing story

This book had a lot of interesting bits and could have been solid, but it seemed like two books sort of crammed together. This made things confusing.
The narrator did an excellent job, but he really couldn't pull it off.

Very confusing

This story is quite confusing. All of the names and characters plus the jumping around in time makes this story rather difficult to follow. It never really drew me in. It is dark and edgy with an unusually unexpected ending.

Chris Abell's performance is very good. His character voices are distinctive and he captures the gritty nature of this story.
