Publisher's summary

Axel's life was simple: He lived with his father in a small township, worked hard, and planned to be a respectable man just like his father. Then, he met Florence, and his small world suddenly spun out of his control. Accused of crimes and shunned by a family secret he never knew about, Axel is flung out of his small, sheltered life into a world of the unknown.

Mythical creatures, wars, friendships made and lost - Axel has to grow and become a man in this new and scary place. He becomes strong, is trained as a warrior, and learns just how harsh the world can be. Follow Axel on his journey, laugh with him, cry with him, and fight with him.

3 star listen

This book was really odd, I did enjoy it tho.
3 star listen,
I enjoyed the epilogue, it goes back through the story and reiterates what’s happened.

Fantasy telling of the little folk
Gifted audio in exchange for an honest review

It took me a while to complete this book but I got through it.

Wow, that’s a good book

For a first time author, that was a great read. There were some parts that you really had to think about, but the story line and the characters were very well thought through. Honestly, at the beginning I was a little off by the abstract version of drama, but after that, it opened things up and really tied everything together. With this being a first book of the series, as a reader, could the either look more into giving some back history on some of the characters and give some raw success for them? Back story is always key to books like these, but overall, wow. That’s a great book to read and to learn that the author is a first time publisher, really shows the books equivalent nature for the success of the content. Give us more!!

great book

not a man of many words, don't have time to be. This book was worth every spare minute I had, the characters and story line were pretty imaginative. It kept my attention which isn't something many books do. I find Axel pretty relatable, can't wait for the next book.

Fantastic Book

The author spins a new and exciting fantasy tale with a fresh spin. Sprock weaves a tapestry of interesting and engaging characters with verve and imagination while avoiding trope. The story is certainly worth a read and is a welcome breath of air in a genre that can seem to be choked with ponderous and repetitive stories. Her take on the hero's journey is new, exciting and very well written and her writing style allows a reader to get lost in the story and makes it impossible to put down. I am eagerly awaiting the sequel which I am sure her many fans will soon be demanding.

Great Book, Perplexed By The Rude Review

I purchased this book out of curiosity, after reading the very negative review that was left. The review was so overtly personal, that it seemed pretty clear that the writer had an ax to grind. The book is in a genre I like, and I thought what the heck, I might as well take the risk!

This book is phenomenal! The author has a beautiful style! I am truly glad that I discovered this gem. The story is excellent. The first scene plops you down in the middle of a world from an imaginative and untypical perspective. It takes a few paragraphs to get your bearing, but this is part of the magic! Once you see through the characters eyes, you are drawn in, and along for the ride.

I can enthusiastically recommend this book to anyone looking for an imaginative and thoughtful / intelligent story filled with details that bring the world to life.

I really enjoyed it! To the poster of the clearly bias review, I just say 'thank you!' Thank you for writing a review so deeply personal and negative that it caused me to stop and discover this author! I can't wait to read more of her work, as she has a beautiful style that I really enjoy.

was pleased with this story!

DONT LISTEN TO THAT POS THAT LEFT A ONE STAR AND SAID THOSE THINGS. THAT PERSON OBVIOUSLY DID NOT LISTEN VERY FAR INTO THE BOOK. I found the reader to be easy to listen to and i thought he did well with the female voices. the characters and storyline were great. the detail for the fight scenes were good and the emotions really seemed to be explained well and made me feel like i was part of the story at times. i really like the little twist the author gives to the mythical beings in this story. i saw this online for sale a while back and wanted to buy it, i am glad it came out on audio. the reviews online were all 5 stars, i dont know why someone put a 1 star review on it here and claimed that the description amd names dont even match the storyline...... they must have gotten it mixed up with something else they were listening too. i hope there will be more to come since it says book one on it.
