About this listen

A century before Heather and Picket's adventures in The Green Ember, a displaced community fights for hope on the ragged edge of survival.

My place beside you

My blood for yours

Till The Green Ember rises

Or the end of the world.

Whitson Mariner and Fleck Blackstar face old fears and new enemies, forging a legend that will echo through the ages.

Old wars haunt. New enemies threaten. An oath is born.

A hero rises.

I highly enjoyed reading The Black Star of Kingston, and I thought it was an excellent start to the prequel series.

It was quite interesting to see legendary, famed historical figures from the series in action, and listening how they changed the course of Natalia’s history. I also found learning how the famous oath that Fleck Blackstar began fascinating, and every time I heard the words my heart soared with excitement.

Eric Fritzius’s performance was excellent, and I loved the accents he gave to different characters. I’m looking forward to listening to other books narrated by him.

Finally, I thought the storyline was wonderful. The book was engaging and I really felt like I was there, whether sailing with King Whitson or fighting Lords of Prey with Captain Fleck Blackstar.

Another excellent read, I 100% recommend this book.

We were gripped by the battle scene, and shocked that the audiobook was so short.

Shorter than expected, great battle scene!

I liked everything but the thing that I dislike it was like in the ember falls they made the black king speak and talk but in the Blackstar of Kingston it was just this huge catastrophe all in one time and it would've been better if there is talking and all that kind of stuff because that would make it much more exciting. Because I like you more like expressing all the bad things and that kind of stuff it makes it much more easier to listen to.
