Bones is no sidekick.

So far both Bones standalone stories I have listened to have been just as fun as the Maddock & Bones series. One of the reasons I like those stories is that Bones isn't a sidekick, both characters have their moments & it's more of a 60/40 than a 90/10 situation. These books drive that point home, Bones has no issue carrying a story on his own.

To be clear I know that these books are not going to be literary classics & am also aware that they are as far fetched as your typical action movie. With that said they are fun, quick & have likable characters. They address cool historical fiction, cryptozoology & alien storylines in a more grounded way, but don't pull a bait & switch at the end by making the conclusion overly mundane. These books for me are comfort food & if looked at through that lens they are awesome.

Lastly the bonus story at the end, is just awesome & would have loved to have seen that play out in a full length story.

So exciting! Going in my favorite file!

The Book of Bones by David Wood narrated by awesome Jeffrey Kafer is so clever, witty, exciting, suspenseful, full of intrigue and possibilities 😁. I was glued to my tablet, dinner was going to be late! I didn't know what this book was about when I got it but wow, it is a winner! It has one of my top five narrators narrating it so double wow! This is book two in the series so I immediately bought book one! Awesomeness all around, story and narration.
