About this listen

“A book that will stay with the reader long after the last page. Absolutely brilliant.” —Kristan Higgins, New York Times bestselling author

“This drama-packed page turner will warm your heart!” —Eliza Knight, USA Today bestselling author of The Mayfair Bookshop

When life rewrites the story, only friendship will see them through.

After years of hard work, four best friends—Celeste, Yasmeen, Toni and Leslie—are finally on the verge of opening the bookstore of their dreams. A place where their community can find solace with an intriguing new read, a comforting beverage and book-loving friends.

But before they can cut the ribbon, their worlds are upended.

Toni receives devastating news just months before her wedding, while Celeste’s struggling marriage threatens to collapse completely. Leslie learns a shocking secret about her family, and a lotto ticket changes Yasmeen’s life—but not for the better.

As the bookstore’s grand opening fast approaches, the four women must lean on each other now more than ever to navigate their grief and uncertainty. And together, they’ll learn that sometimes, even life’s most unexpected plot twists can lead to beautiful new beginnings.

Girlfriends?!

Girlfriends.,they can be a blessing and a curse. No one knows you as well as your girls do.

This story had me loving some and disliking others. It revolves around 4 friends attempting to open a book store so they can share their love of books with others. Each one is at a different time in their lives and facing their own turmoil. When all of their issues comes to a head, will they face them together or will this destroy their friendship forever.

I enjoyed the story, but the main theme here was how fear can paralyze you. Leslie, Toni, Yasmeen, and Celeste were each afraid of facing “something” and instead of pulling people in, they constantly kept everyone at arms length, being mean and spiteful at times, testing the friendship and failing miserably. As the story unfolds, it made you really think, how close are your friends really? Can you truly give and receive truth? Only time will tell.

I loved these sisters!

Well-drawn characters and snappy, heartfelt dialogue, all wrapped in a relatable story of heartbreak and triumph! Who could ask for anything more from a book! This one will always be among my favorites!

A Mix of Everything

This story has some of everything!! Relationship do's and don'ts, Friendship's highs and lows, marriage and divorce, past mistakes when present hidden agendas, highs and lows of finances and more!! It's easy to favor one of the four friends, all readers will relate to at least one of the friends but by the end of the story, you'll find yourself cheering for all the friends. There is so much to unpack in this story of friendship and entrepreneurship.

So far, I’m STUNNED

You’d have to really stretch your mind to believe that an entire group of grown women would be this dense. I was so frustrated by each of these characters that I couldn’t enjoy this book.

How ridiculously immature these women were

I only finished this book because we were reading it for book club. The level of dishonesty the four main characters had with themselves and nearly everyone else was annoying, The fact that it was also an “all’s well that ends well” conclusion was also annoying.
