About this listen

Magic can save you. Magic can kill you.

Students at the Magisterium are supposed to be safe. Under the watchful eyes of the mages, they are taught to use magic to bring order to a chaotic world.

But now the chaos is fighting back. Call, Tamara, and Aaron should be worrying about things like pop quizzes and magic contests. Instead, after the shocking death of one of their classmates, they must track down a sinister killer...and risk their own lives in the process.

As Call, Tamara, and Aaron discover, magic can only be as good as the person who wields it. In evil hands it has the capacity to do immeasurable harm - unless it is stopped in time.

In this striking third book of Magisterium, best-selling authors Holly Black and Cassandra Clare present us with a school where anything - good or evil - can happen, and the only way to unlock the truth is to risk everything to find it.

Plot twists and a cliffhanger ending

It's like a cross between Harry Potter and Magic Teacher's Son. Lots of interesting plot twists (one of which I guessed correctly this time). It ended on a cliffhanger, so I'm eagerly awaiting the 4th book in the series. My only criticism is that there are too many similarities to Harry Potter, e.g. Callum (the protagonist) AGAIN passes out after a conflict and wakes up in the infirmary, something which happens so often in this series that it keeos reminding me of Harry Potter repeatedly waking up in the "hospital wing" at Hogwarts!

Great Series

This series takes many wild turns in my opinion, it seems to grasp the fact that the main characters are magicians and powerful they are also just teenagers, i love the way that is shown in the books. #magic #magisterium #YA #Fantasy #Fun

Another great book in the Magisterium Series

What did you love best about The Bronze Key?

I really love Paul Boehmer as a narrator, and I like this series. I find the series to be very visual with some great magic, and the character development is excellent. At times I feel like I am a tag-a-long part of the group. It's not serious, but it's entertaining.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Call a lot, and Tamara. Call is so conflicted at times, but Tamara is just the best at always trying to do the right thing.

What about Paul Boehmer’s performance did you like?

The narrator is easy to understand and clear. I had no trouble telling which character was talking It was very well read at a good rate. In fact, I have been looking for other titles with him as a narrator.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was very funny in places. It never got too terribly deep or sad, it was good company and helped me pass the time as I did chores.

Any additional comments?

I liked this series enough that I got all the books. I enjoyed them all.

Great story to listen to with my son

My 12 year old and I listened to this series. We love Holky Black and had listened to the curse worker series before this. My son rates this the best series that we have listened to yet. I thought that the curse workers was much more clever and smart, but the teenage romance scenes of that one had been too squirmy for my 12 year old.
