About this listen

Boone Drake follows all the rules - as a cop, husband, and father. But when everything in his personal life is destroyed, he buries himself in guilt. His faith is rocked when he questions why God would allow this to happen to him. When it appears that it can't get any worse, he's accused of police brutality and suddenly his career is at risk. The possibility of being promoted to the Organized Crime Division is slipping from his hands. His life is spiraling out of control. But while protecting the leader of a Chicago gang, Boone comes to realize that God can change the hardest heart... and forgive the worst of crimes.

It is so refreshing, as a Christian, to read a crime novel that has a great plot, yet not filled with profanity & descriptive sexual content & can serve as source to point people to a loving Heavenly Father. THANK YOU!

This is one of those, can't put it down books. This story is complete in every sense of the word. from the beginning through the suffering and the doubt, the heartache and the pain. Will bring you to tears. After that the story of recovery longing and acceptance keep you focused.

I have always enjoyed Jerry Jenkin's books, but this one excels them all. I laughed and cried (a lot in the beginning) and held my breath at other times. I'm starting the second book in the series NOW!!

Excellent!!!!

Clean Christian thriller and I enjoyed the twists and turns. It was a bit slow in the middle but overall a nice feel good book.

Johnny Heller was the perfect choice to narrate this series. His characterizations are distinctive and believable, and his voice is the perfect blend of raspiness and empathy that make for a great "cop" listen.
This was one of Jerry Jenkins' best efforts. His writing was clear and concise. And he presented a view of police work that was genuine ... depicting both the good and the bad, and showing some of the conflicts that are faced by real policemen.

Genuine, transparent, and believable

It’s a good book. The battle dealing with grief was developed and told very well. Too many unanswered questions at the end for my taste.

I would recommend it
