Publisher's summary

Spending their fortunes and losing their hearts.

Hardworking Australian nurse Ben Adams inherits a substantial sum and decides to tour Europe. In Monaco, the home of glamour and the idle rich, he meets French billionaire playboy Léo Artois. After getting off on the wrong foot - as happens when one accuses a stranger of being part of the Albanian mafia - their attraction blazes. Léo, born to the top tier of society, has never known limits, and Ben, used to budgeting every cent, finds it difficult to adjust to not only Léo's world, but also the changes wealth brings to his own life.

As they make allowances for each other's foibles, Ben gradually appreciates the finer things, and Léo widens his perspective. They both know one thing: this is not a typical holiday romance and they're not ready to say goodbye.

Usually I love Peter B Brooke...

I was distracted by the narration so much that it’s hard for me to really evaluate this book on it’s own merits.
I think it’s a fairly sweet, a little funny, and somewhat adorable “troptastic” romance that throws two very different men at one another. We have a hard working, frugal man who ends up super rich thrown together with a billionaire who maybe doesn’t appreciate life like he could.

There’s not much angst or romantic tension and I missed that. The couple is cute together and Ben is pretty funny. (I wasn’t sure about the whole Bunny thing but… to each his own.)

With this series you expect the clichéd and accept some idealized futures. While I can appreciate that these guys were enjoying the heck out of experiencing one another’s life styles, I wasn’t convinced on their chemistry/cohesiveness for the long term. I have a hard time seeing them day to day for the long haul. However… if that sort of thing doesn’t bug you then you’ll likely enjoy the extravagance of Leo’s life and find the mix of Cinderella and Pygmalion delightful.

Unfortunately, I was so dismayed by the narration that it was hard for me to become immersed in the story.

I’ve really enjoyed Peter Brooke’s narrations in the past and I was so surprised that this wasn’t as good as his others. In fact, I chose this to review because I’d had such a lovely time listening to his other narrations.
His French accent is good but what was Ben’s accent??? It moved and at times I thought he was mid-west American, Cockney or from Brooklyn. It was ever changing and very distracting.

I think reading this would be a fun, light, low-angst few hours, but I’d listen to the sample before buying the audiobook.

Fun romance will have you laughing and swooning

I got into this story backwards. I had read/listened to The Athlete and The Aristocrat first and that is the book after this one. So I already knew the main characters Ben (don't call him Benji) and Leo and their outcome but that didn't ruin my experience from this book at all. It enhanced because I already loved them. They meet while Ben is on vacation. Chemistry is automatic. They start a fun and passionate romance even though they are so different. While Leo is ready for them to make it official, Ben worries it's just the vacation glow and that their feelings aren't real. It isn't until he's away from Leo that he sees the truth. This was such a fun story to follow along. I was cracking up so much at Ben and his awkwardness. I swooned over how special he was to Leo and Leo just wanted to give him the things in life he deserved. This was a great romance and I can't wait for more from all these characters! The narrator did a great job between accents as Leo has a French accent and Ben has an Australian one. Truly gifted narrator. Give this book a read or a listen. You will be a big fan like me in the end.

Cute story. narration leaves a lot to be desired.

cute story but the accents used in the narration were borderline painful. the French was quite comical and the Australian was not Aussie at all. I think it would have been better with an actual Aussie narrator.
