About this listen

One perfect, unforgettable kiss can change your life....

When aspiring musician Izzy is knocked off her motorbike, she doesn't just lose her dignity - she loses both long-term boyfriends, her job, and her beautiful apartment. Gina, who caused the accident, has more important things to worry about: Her husband has just deserted her for his pregnant mistress. Why should she care about Izzy? Yet, somehow, Gina finds herself opening her home to Izzy and her spirited teenage daughter.

It's there that Izzy meets Gina's oldest friend, heart-stoppingly handsome Sam, whose lingering kiss is almost impossible to ignore. But there are just a few obstacles between that first kiss and the happily ever after that has always eluded her....

The story went on and on and on…

This was much too long and could have been shortened but overall it was an enjoyable experience. The narrator was excellent and made it a pleasant read.

Good but Too long, too much hit & miss love

First I some parts are very funny. Some moments are very real to life. But Edit edit editing is lacking.

The Narrator however is spectacular! She probably made what I did enjoy palatable.

British RomCom

Audiobook Review:
Kiss, by: Jill Mansell
Narrator: Gabrielle Baker
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review:
This is the third book I’ve read or listened to by Mansell. I really like British romcom books. This book was good, but my least favorite of the three. It took forever for things to get resolved for all of the characters. Just when you thought things were going in one direction, the story would shift. I do like twists and turns, but sometimes it felt long. I did like how Gina’s character changed from the beginning of the book. Izzy and Katerina are funny. All of the characters are flawed, and most of them are likable, except for maybe Andrew and Vivian.

I liked the narrator. Baker has good pitch and pace and her pitch changes depending on who is speaking. Her voice for Vivian made me laugh… she has a southern accent.

I like the way Mansell has storylines and backstories for all of the main characters. I will continue to read books by Mansell because I like the settings and there’s humor, heart, and sometimes mystery.

Delightfully convoluted

The only other review I saw found the characters unrelatable and unlikeable. This is true. No one in here is without blemish or major character flaws. They do stupid unforgivable things and I loved every one of them. I even liked Andrew for being ridiculously despicable. The author seemed to just wander the story mixing up couples pairings while the reader goes “noooooooo!” It was fun and it went on forever. The narrator’s approximation of a Texas accent was so wildly exaggerated and unbelievable that it made me happy.

Terribly long, repetitive and convoluted

Really poorly done this time. Storyline draws out. Some elements are in fact repeated in different character plots. And in general hard to truly engage with the characters. Really not great.
