About this listen

The Horus Heresy Book 54

For long years, the Horus Heresy has ground on. Now, the Death Guard have been sent to begin the final battle. But Mortarion and his sons must face their gravest challenge first - for Nurgle has claimed them as his own, and he will not be denied....

After 54 books, the best-selling series is finally drawing to a close with a long-awaited story - the fall of the Death Guard into Nurgle's embrace as they make their way to start the Siege of Terra.

The skies darken over Terra as the final battle for the Throne looms ever closer.... As the Traitor primarchs muster to the Warmaster’s banner, it is Mortarion who is sent ahead as the vanguard of the Traitor forces. But as he and his warriors make way, they become lost in the warp and stricken by a terrible plague. Once thought of as unbreakable, the legendary Death Guard are brought to their knees. To save his Legion, Mortarion must strike a most terrible bargain that will damn his sons for eternity. Meanwhile, in the cloisters of Holy Terra, a plot is afoot to create sedition and carnage in advance of the Horus’ armies. Taking matters into his own hands, Malcador the Sigillite seeks to put a stop to any insurrection but discovers a plot that he will need all of his cunning and battle-craft to overcome.

This was wonderful. Swallow and Keeble blew it out of the water on this one.

Amazing! Bring on the siege!

wow. I enjoyed this very much. Bern following the death guard since the Eisenstein took flight. And now its nearly at end. This tragedy within tragedies. An excellent performance. And a satsifying story.

Good story( sad- heartrending)

This man had to find a way to voice the eldritch pestilence of Nurgle. This diseased voice was off-putting, gross, and hard to listen to for long periods of time and therefore accomplished everything it had to. Keeble deserves a raise and a bag of lozenges.

John Keeble deserves a raise

Very good listen, one of the more compelling books to fall into with the Heresy collection. More fun shenanigans with the Knights Errant and a little back story into the Death Guard and Mortarion.

as someone who was not big on chaos I did not expext this book and the amazing performance of the narrator to blow me away like it did. The characters in their stories are very well written and the narrator does an amazing job bringing every one of them to life.

10/10 five stars two thumbs up

the performance was great, the writing was great, but it felt like two storys strapped together to fill out a book.

Not enough

I really enjoyed this I didn't know much about mortarion and why he had turn traitor to easily until now. my hate for typhus continues and even more so now. great read !

Great insight into the Death Guard

I play Death guard so I was already amped for this, but any of the books that include the warp and it's beings always interest me bc they take you somewhere that isn't explored much in the books, and this one does a deep dive, and it takes a Primarch that doesn't get as much appreciation and puts him in the lime light. it's a solid read and was a lot of fun, it flowed really well too.

one of the best in the series

Awesome narration. Great for Death Guard lore. Garro sections require more knowledge of overall story.

Amazing performance

the story of how the death guard fell to nurg is woven in between the origon story of Morty and typhus which is fine and unique. My only complaint is a big one is that the exact story of how Morty chose nurgle was in the final five minutes. leavesuch to still be desired. what happened between typhus and mort?? what went on the minds of the legion after the switch?? it just ends.. voice acting and pace was so creative.

The best Death Guard story so far but...
