About this listen

Escape to Sugar Sand Beach with Nina Gray and her best friends for a second chance at all life has to offer.

At forty-five, Chef Nina has all but given up on her dream of having a kitchen of her very own. Once hailed as the fresh, new face on the restaurant scene, she saw her hopes for the future fall like an overbaked soufflé after the man she loved betrayed her and destroyed her reputation.

For ten years, Nina has worked hard at regaining the trust of the top chefs in the DC area. But opening a restaurant of her own? That dream went up in a puff of smoke a long time ago. Or she thought it had…

Until, thanks to the best friends a girl could ever want, Nina gets one more chance to make her dreams come true. While Michelle, Reggie and Erin concentrate on converting a run-down beach house into an inn, Nina tests out new dishes and recipes for the soon-to-be-opened Café at Sugar Sand Inn. But when rumors of Nina’s past threaten the Café, will diners and guests patronize the beautiful restaurant she’s always wanted? Or will history repeat itself?

Join Nina, Michelle, Reggie and Erin as they build new lives in Sugar Sand Beach, where fresh opportunities for life, love and happiness are as limitless as the blue Florida skies.

This is a good light book - what some call a beach read. You know it's generally going to turn out right, nobody gets murdered, etc. So my only complaint is that when a narrator prepares to narrate a book, she/he should learn nearby geographic pronunciations. Choctawhatchee Bay is NOT pronounced Choca-WHAT-CHEE. It's Chocta-hatchee. Panama City isn't PA-ne-muh City, emphasis on the first sylable. It's PanaMA, mild emphasis on MA. Like the country Panama.

Light and airy

It was great to see the chef of Sugar Sand Inn come out on top, and the inn getting closer to a full opening!

I love the characters and their friendships that lean in each other’s support during life’s ups and downs. I can’t wait to see how the series ends

Great story

Holy cow if I had to hear her pronounce Panama City that way one more time I was going to lose it….even the country of Panama isn’t pronounced that way…. I can’t even bring myself to listen to the last book because of it…. The story is mildly entertaining if you don’t cringe at weird pronunciations….

Do Narrators not have someone listen to their performance before wrapping things up?

I love the characters but the more we learn about them the more flaws we can see. The latest chef stealing of recipes incident was soooo slow to develop the reader (me) just wanted to pull out her hair. I could see what was happening as soon as she hired that telephone handling idiot. Move along please!

Too predictable…slow moving

It would have been nice if she rounded out. all of the characters. It was a boring end to a boring trilogy.
