A story for the ages!

This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast.

This book was a very fast listen. This is not the typical type of book that I would read. That being said, this was a great listen. The narrator really brought life to the story, it was like I was there watching everything happen. Bill Lord just has the best voice for this type of book.

This is a true adventure book, I wanted to know what was going to happen to Buck. From the first minutes, I got attached to him. There were so many different elements and settings in the story that I was almost always on the edge of my seat. There was always something new going on and never really a dull moment.

The narrator brought a great voice to the story and made it an enjoyable listen. This book is great for a younger audience as well as an older on. I can see this being a story for the ages. I really enjoyed it.

A Gripping Story Told in Marvelous Prose

Bill Lord does an excellent job in the narration of Jack London's story. His narration brings to life the tour de force that is Jack London's story telling and writing, and carries the listener along effortlessly through Buck's harrowing adventures.

Listening to this book was so enjoyable!

Like most people I had read this book as a child but didn't fully appreciate the story until I read it again a few years ago.

I enjoyed the book so much that when I saw it available in an audible format I wanted to get it.

I admit I was a little reluctant only because other books I had purchased in audible form were...idk...boring? I mean the voice was not very expressive and so slow. Geez it took forget to get through a book.

Not the case with this book narrated by Bill Lord. He has an extremely expressive and pleasing voice. The narration painted a captivating picture better than my imagination had when I had previously read the book. Seriously, it was like watching a movie with my ears.

The Call of the Wild.

I remember reading this when I was younger and not really liking it, I think it was the ill treatment of the dogs that I didn't like, but overall I thought the book was boring. Well, my feelings were the same now as they were then. I hated the ill treatment but could understand the book as a whole better now then when I was younger, but I still found it a little boring. That's my personal feelings though and maybe it didn't help that the last few books I've read where non stop action and adventure!! Lol.

Anyway, despite not loving it, I did love the message of loyalty, devotion, survival, unbreakable spirit and love. Poor Buck, it's impossible not to love him but his life was so hard and I hated seeing the hardship he had to endure!! Being a sled dog is hard but being one back then was death!

In all, I'm glad I listened to this. I do think his White Fang book is much better but I'd still recommend this. It's a classic after all.

I had no issue with Bill Lords performance. He is clear and easy to follow and really gave his all.

One Of The Great Classics

I had never read this classic tale. I had only seen the old black and white Clark Gable movie. When I happened upon the audio book, I picked it up because I was both surprised and curious at its length. It is only 2.5 hours unabridged. I thought it would have been longer. I know every novel goes through a good or bad transformation when it becomes a movie. Things tend to unexpectedly change when a book becomes a movie.and this book was no exception. I did enjoy the Clark Gable movie from long ago, but I also really enjoyed the original written words of Jack London.

I also enjoyed the narration of Bill Lord. He does a great job with the material. The bottom line is this is a great classic. If you are in the mood for an audio version of a great classic, you can’t go wrong with “The Call Of The Wild.”
