Dr. M.K. Jessup
About this listen
This is the first ever reprint of the book that brought the entire legend of the Philadelphia Experiment into the public sphere, and created controversy for decades: The Case for the UFO! Why has this book been suppressed for so many years? It is a well-reasoned review of the UFO record by an eminent astromomer, mathematician, and archaeologist, Dr. M.K. Jessup. His conclusions are breathtaking and incredible, but inescapable.
Description from the original dust jacket:
Flying saucers are not new! For thousands of years, men have seen mysterious objects in the skies. Now, a prominent scientists proves that unidentified flying objects originate here, on Earth.
If you have ever wondered about the things today's scientists do not, will not, or cannot explain, this audiobook is for you. Such questions might be:
What is the hidden meaning of the comet's tail?
What caused the “Devil's Footprints” of Devonshire?
Why are we wrong to think of space flight only in terms of rocket power?
How was a soldier “teleported” from the Phillippine Islands to Mexico City within one hour?
What force lifted 1200-ton stones in ancient Peru?
How is acceleration achieved by UFOs?
What caused the disappearance of the crews of the SS Sea Bird and the Marie Celeste?
Was the “secret” of space flight known 50,000 years ago?
What is the strange truth hidden in the ancient ruins of Baalbek?
And finally, and most importantly: Are the UFOs friend, or foe?
This is the original edition of The Case for the UFO, which does not include the scrawled “annotations” of the infamous Carlos Allende (who may or may not have tormented Jessup into committing suicide). You will find this version much easier to understand than the Varo Edition, and probably much more meaningful.

First released in 1957, The Expanding Case was the sequel to perhaps the most notorious book in ufological history: The Case for the UFO, which drew the interest of the U.S. Navy and resulted in the famous annotated "Varo Edition". The annotator of the book, Carlos Allende, claimed to have been a witness to the Philadelphia Experiment. Allende seemed to think that the book's author, astronomer M.K. Jessup, knew more about the experiment than he was admitting, and had maybe played a role in it.

In this revised and expanded edition of Richard Dolan's previous classic on the UFO subject, he brings the listener through the tumultuous journey of the UFO/UAP subject through the early 2020s. This includes a detailed treatment of the changes to our public discussion of UFOs since 2017 and what is the likely end point of this new direction. But Dolan provides much more than this, including providing critical context of the UFO subject within the broader social, political, and technological developments of our world, something that makes him unique among UFO researchers.

In Dimensions, Dr. Jacques Vallee reexamines the historical record that led to the modern UFO phenomenon and to the belief in alien contact. He then tackles the enigma of abduction reports, which come from various times and various countries, as well as the psychic and spiritual components of the contact experience. In the last portion of the book, he notes the factors that inhibit research into the phenomenon - the triple coverup and political motivations - and concludes that the extraterrestrial theory is simply not strange enough to explain the facts.

Dust swirled round die planet for years, causing temperatures to plummet and sunsets to turn vivid with lurid and unsettling displays of light.

This is a reprint of a 1955 work
The publisher's blurb gives a fine overview of the material.
The author presents an interesting perspective on the issues surrounding the presence/observances of extraterrestrial beings and their manifestations. I am of the impression that this book, like some others I have been exposed to, has been reissued as more of a resource text for devotees and advanced degree theses. The info contained is as valid today as it was then.
Narrator Jack renders a professional performance of neutrality with a pace well suited to the note-taker in a clear, well enunciated tones.

An Important Book
This book was originally written in 1955 and I feel that it's an important piece of the UFO puzzle. The information within this book has been critical to what we know today about unidentified flying objects. Dr. Jessup did an enormous amount of research in the field of astronomy and much of his work pre-dates others in the same field who have drawn the same conclusions.
For someone like me who loves astronomy and UFO's and such, this book is amazing even though it's dated. Its probably not even really dated considering the many new things that have been discovered and observed since the 50's. This book is such a great point of reference that I bookmarked many places to go back and look up later. The reality is that whatever is out there in the sky and things falling from the sky that can't be identified becomes UNidentified.
This book discusses things falling from the sky such as falling ice, shaped things falling from the sky, green lightning, red rain, crawling fireballs, falling quartzite, and numerous other fascinating events with background data. Missing ships, teleportation. Many incidents dating back to the 1800's and even before that, I found to be super interesting. I'm happy that I had the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.
About the narrator: Jack Chekijian did a wonderful job narrating this audiobook. His performance was great and easy to listen to. He has a nice quality in the tone of his voice. He kept the book moving forward at a perfect pace and I enjoyed it very much.
I received this audiobook foc in exchange for an unbiased review.

What did you like best about this story?
The book is good, it is one of the most bizarre stories ever. The preface does not contain all the details. But it can be found in other sources, like e.g. Joseph Farrell's book Secrets Of The Unified Field .

A Groundbreaking Book
This book by Morris K. Jessup published in the 50's broke new ground in ufology. I enjoyed the Fortean (for Charles Fort) details in the book, and because many of these phenomena still mystify humanity, it provides an interesting context to read reports of this phenomena through time. This is the book that Carlos Allende annotated and broke the story of the Philadelphia Experiment, so the book itself is a clue in the mysterious legend of the Philadelphia Experiment, time travel, ultraterrestrials, dimensional shifts, and the like. Being an astronomer by training and profession, MK Jessup has the chops to write about planetary orbits, the distance of objects seen between the moon and earth and the sun and earth. Jack Chekijian has a beautifully clear and resonant voice.

Annoying narration - returning this audiobook
35 minutes into this book. Hoped to get used to the strange mechanical, sing-song, pretentious intonation with syllables raised in the strangest places. I give up.
This strange narration is distracting from what would be interesting information.
This book is from 1955, and the UFO research done back then is presented differently than that of today, so is of interest.
Natural speech is always more effective than weirdness. I don't know if someone used some mechanical filtering on this, but even that wouldn't account for the strange inflection of syllables. Narration shouldn't take away from the actual book.

interesting and entertaining...
I received this audio book as a gift in exchange for a honest and unbiased review. This book is both interesting and entertaining. My favorite parts were when they discusses the unusual weather including huge blocks of ice and snowflakes. I love hearing all the alien stories. I also like hearing about all the scientific entries there are for this kind of strange happenings.
The author, Dr M K Jessup did a great job researching all the details for this book. It is well written and quite interesting for a non fiction. The narrator, Jack Chekijian did a great job delivering all the facts to us. I really enjoy his multiple voices.
