About this listen

Forced to attend the Student Retention Office's summer retreat, Professor Molly brings her game of buzzword bingo to fend off boredom. But when a serial harasser collapses face-first into his haupia cheesecake, the event goes from dull to disastrous. Now Molly has to fight to keep her best friend out of the worst kind of trouble - and herself off the unemployment line.

If you like Dorothy Parker, P.G. Wodehouse, or E.F. Benson's Mapp and Lucia stories, you'll enjoy this tale of passion, pilferage, and petty politics in the middle of the Pacific.

Any additional comments?

The Case of the Defunct Adjunct by Frankie Bow was a good read. When a professor comes up dead, Professor Molly Barda starts investigating. She is trying to maintain her innocence as well as the innocence of her friends and fellow professors. This was a great read, I can't wait to read more by Frankie Bow.

Overall this is a pretty good book. I like the characters and there are some funny parts. The plot is also okay. I think I need to read the next book before I'm sold on this author.

I Don't Know

snarky, amateur-sleuth, hawaii, professor, humor, women-sleuths

I was out of my element as far as Hawaii and professorship, but the mystery and snarks were so good that I enjoyed it immensely!
Nicole Gose did an excellent job as narrator.
Got it as Whispersync on the cheap after being alerted by Book Gorilla.

Fun and academia?

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Absolutely nothing. The writing was bad and the narration made it even worse.

Would you ever listen to anything by Frankie Bow again?

No!

What didn’t you like about Nicole Gose’s performance?

Her attempt at accents is rather insulting.

Any additional comments?

I can not seriously believe that any reputable bookseller would actually allow this tripe to be sold.
