Good Yarn

Good, exciting case from beginning to end. I loved the action in the investigation part, and the courtroom scenes were masterful.

One of the best!

Forget the episode of the TV series, ESG is masterful in creating a wonderful mystery. Be mindful of its being written in a much different time as there are some objectionable references to people of color but remember that ESG did practice civil rights law before turning into an author. With that said, this is truly enjoyable and Alexander Condese is masterful in his narration.

Really hides the Killer

I really enjoyed the ride of the story. I appreciated how Della was being developed as a true partner in this team of problem solvers. Because the stories were written in a different time, it’s not easy to always hear how women minorities and immigrants were treated doing that hayday. However, I tried to appreciate that those were the times and that everyone wasn’t enlightened. Overall, this is a great story it really demonstrates the talent of the author. The narrator is just phenomenal in my opinion. One of my favorites in the Perry Mason series. Bravo.

Kept me guessing

I knew Perry Mason lived on the edge of the law, but never went overboard. This one had me guessing at every clue. I knew Perry Mason was not guilty of any wrongdoing. Perry Mason lives for truth. I wasn’t sure that he was going to come out clean when this case was finished. I wasn’t sure if they would ever find the stuttering bishop again. I was on the edge of my seat listening as best I could wondering how this case was going to end.

I love the writing of this story by Mr. Gardener, and I love the voice of our narrator or reader. He puts the right inflection on the right words. Fabulous story and fabulous work.

Pretty good

Not my favorite Perry Mason novel, this one starts a little slow, but by the end I was on my seat.

Brilliant novel of it’s time.

The story is fantastic with enough twists to keep you guessing. I like the way the friendship of Perry and Della has developed and deepened and how she’s intrinsically involved in the case as much more than just a secretary.

The performance by Cendese is great as always though there are a few minor mispronunciations. Love his range of voices!

The book is firmly of it’s time with all the norms of speech and thought that entails. It makes no sense to read or listen to it and expect to have the modern sensibilities and understanding that we enjoy. We have the benefit of nearly a century of knowledge, experience and evolved understanding that wasn’t available to the author when the book was written.

Hope this is helpful to y’all and enjoy your day!👍

Missed Raymond Burr!

Hated this because I missed the voices of the TV Raymond Burr and the actors I am used to hearing....Sorry!
