Editorial reviews

Author Leann Sweeney continues her Cats in Trouble series with The Cat, the Lady, and The Liar, another mystery romp starring "cat quilter" Jillian Hart and her cat, Chablis. Distinctly cutesy, romantic, and modest, the story is filled with descriptions of gorgeous estates, timeworn mysteries, and sleuths of the feline variety. In this edition of the series, Jillian Hart must get to the bottom of a dead body floating on a lake and a mysterious rich woman named Ritaestelle Longworth.

Vanessa Johansson, who performs all of the Cats in Trouble series, uses a playful and pleasing mid-range voice complete with caricature-inflected dialogue and faux-dramatic pitch variations. While the performance is suitable for children, adults looking for a cat-heavy whodunit should surely catch this tale, too.

Loved the book most of all of them.

I have ordered all of the series and really enjoyed the last two immensely!. I most of all enjoyed the person narrating, vanessa.johnansson. There were times when I kept repeating chapters as

Next book always better than the last

I listened to the first two books in the series, and the next has always been better than the last.

oh Jillian!

I stumbled on Ms. Jillian by accident because I am an avid mystery reader. As well as a cat enthusiast and owner! I had never tried "cozy" mysteries and this is exactly something I need in between those heavy plots of books that you have to crawl out of the rabbit hole that it throws you down. "Cozy" allows my brain to relax and not be deducing every moment of the story and allows me too, slow down and enjoy it. Can't was it to read the next.

Easy listening for a commute

I'm now addicted to this series. It combines two of my interests, cats and mysteries. The heroine is a perfect human being. Nice in an imperfect world.

Good Story, Ends Strong After Slow Start

The story starts slow, and the premise that gets us into the story is kind of ludicrous. But once the story really gets going, it transforms into a pretty compelling whodunnit. I definitely enjoyed it and look forward to the other books.
