About this listen

International best-selling author Ava Miles shares a heartwarming and emotional novel about overcoming the past, trusting in second chances, and finding new beginnings in life and love.

Chosen by BookBub as one of the 20 Most Romantic Books of All-Time.

Visionary gardener Tammy Hollins is making a new life for herself and her children after an abusive marriage. Plants she understands, but men...well, they’re of the weed variety. She’s started her own landscaping business, catering to her country music rock-star brother’s friends. Her first client is sexy, soulful, boy-next-door material, and the one man who tantalizes her and scares her to death.

John Parker McGuiness is a man of many talents, working as a songwriter and lawyer for country music’s biggest stars. He’s drawn to Tammy like no other and hires her as his landscaper, wanting to show her they’re made for each other. When Tammy learns he’s a professed chocoholic, she fashions a magical garden for him—a chocolate garden.

As the garden comes to life, their love for each other grows. When tragedy strikes Tammy’s home, John Parker is willing to move mountains to protect her and her children. Tammy struggles to guard her newfound independence as they use the magic of the chocolate garden to help her children feel safe again. But when secrets from Tammy’s past resurface, can their love and passion survive the memories haunting her?

Love love love this character

I love all of Ava Mills characters and stories. I've been an Addict and I've bought them one after another. Lord knows what I'll do once I read them all. My next plan is to begin cooking "Tory's" family recipes. Anyhow Tammy is strong aware woman who finds herself and becomes the woman she never knew she could be or that she had the right to be. I think as woman we can all relate to Tammy in our own way. I Promise you'll love this story and find yourself wanting to plant your own Chocolate Garden of Dreams. Praying God will answer your secret prayers of the heart as well!

The Chocolate Garden

The story is excellent. I makes me want to plant gardens of my own, especially a chocolate garden. Every woman can relate to the struggle Tammy goes through on the journey to find her voice.

Good book

Good book however it gets confusing each chapter as you do not know whose story it is. For example I know I am reading/listening about one specific character then all of a sudden another family member's point of view has come to light confusing me because I am thinking I am still listening to the original. It doesn't say chapter numbers and/or whom is speaking.

But great book overall

Swoony all the way

Audiobook Review:
The Chocolate Garden by: Ava Miles
Narration by: Em Eldridge

So this book almost was going to be my Melt for the MMC but the whole book was just beautiful and romantic so I decided it’s the perfect story for Swoony Sunday!

This is book two in the Dare River series and I’m just in “country heaven” to steal the title of book two! I’m definitely in my country era at the moment with these masterfully crafted stories! I can’t wait to read the whole series it’s just amazing. I love that all the characters from book one are still here and we are getting glimpses of them!

This book is about Tammy and John Parker. It takes place shortly after book one maybe about less than a year after or so anyway. Tammy is truly coming into her own and is living for herself and her kids. She is starting a business creating beautiful gardens with Visionary Gardening.

She’s healing after her abusive husband and divorce. People are gossiping and her mother is guilting her often. But she’s rebuilding despite it all. After doing her brothers landscaping several people are interested in her work. Including John Parker who hires her to redo his house. When she finds out his love for chocolate she decides to create a chocolate garden for him. I wish I could see it in real life in the book it’s described in such rich detail that my chocolate loving heart wants one too Complete with the chocolate fairies. After a scary event John Parker wants to help the kids not be scared and it’s just so sweet what he and Tammy come up with.

John Parker oh Lordy than man. I want a tall glass of that! He wants to be with Tammy but he doesn’t want to push her so he takes it at her pace and shows her true and meaningful love. It was so beautiful seeing their relationship grow from friendship to a beautiful bond of love.

Even on the moments of doubt once he takes time to reflect he knows that she’s who he wants and he shows her gently and sweetly. But not only to her but to her children. They are finally living, laughing, playing, and enjoying the time with John Parker. He shows them love, respect, and kindness. Letting them know how much he wants to be a part of their life. He is the epitome of book boyfriend, book husband, book friend just all the titles! I melt for him just like Tammy does. An absolute dream!

The book is not only sweet and charming but it’s deeply moving and inspired healing old wounds, family trauma, trusting your inner heart, and letting love in again even when you are scared. These characters are wonderful and I just love living in their world for a while. Cannot wait for Amelia and Clayton’s book! The small glimpses in this story are so addicting.

Favorite quotes:

“He’d gone over the falls in a barrel, as Rye was fond of saying, and he darn well knew it.

The gentleman respected her boundaries. The man fantasized about her surrender. Patience, he told himself.”

“Dreams are just visions we haven’t experienced yet. Doesn’t make them any less real.”

“She would be a lighthouse, shining brightly, and she would encourage them to nourish their every gift and dream. She would never impose her views of what they should do. She would nurture them and let them have their voices, becoming who God had meant them to be.”

“sometimes you had to lose something to get something better.”

“Love Wins, and she thought, yes, it always does.”
