About this listen

From USA Today best-selling author Julianne MacLean comes the next instalment in her popular Color of Heaven Series, where people are affected by real life magic and miracles that change everything they once believed about life and love.

Having spent a lifetime in competition with his older brother Aaron - who always seemed to get the girl -Jack Peterson leaves the US to become a foreign correspondent in the Middle East. When a roadside bomb forces him to return home to recover from his wounds, he quickly becomes the most celebrated journalist on television, and is awarded his own prime time news program. Now, wealthy and successful beyond his wildest dreams, Jack believes he has finally found where he is meant to be. But when a large commercial airliner explodes in the sky over his summer house in Cape Elizabeth, all hell breaks loose as the wreckage crashes to the ground. He has no idea that his life is about to take another astonishing turn.

Meg Andrews grew up with a fear of flying, but when it meant she wouldn't be able to visit her boyfriend on the opposite side of the country, she confronted her fear head-on and earned her pilot's license. Now, a decade later, she is a respected airline crash investigator, passionate about her work, to the point of obsession. When she arrives in the picturesque seaside community of Cape Elizabeth to investigate a massive airline disaster, she meets the famous and charismatic Jack Peterson, who has his own personal fascination with plane crashes.

As the investigation intensifies, Meg and Jack feel a powerful, inexplicable connection to each other. Soon, they realize that the truth behind the crash - and the mystery of their connection - can only be discovered through the strength of the human spirit, the timeless bonds of family, and the gift of second chances.

Left me wanting an epilogue

Although I have listened to each previous story in this series and still plan on completing the series, the ending to this particular story left me wanting a more complete ending or an epilogue.

Great Story

Yes, I am a guy listening to The Color of Heaven Series. My wife read the series and she said I would like it so I began listening.
It is romance thrown in with other aspects of the story so it held my interest based upon the characters. It is good to to have narration which has superb emotion and this book does. It is more for women than men? Sure. Does it work to connect all the books in the series before this one? It sure does. It is enjoyable to see how the early characters still play out in later stories.

Do you want a good read or listen? Get the series and go for it.

Wonderful Promises

It was heartwarming. By the end , I wanted the story to go on, yet understanding why it ended as it did.

SKIP THE FIRST FEW CHAPTERS IN CHILDHOOD AND MOVE ON TO ADULTHOOD — YOU’LL ENJOY THE BOOK MORE!

I completely skipped the first the first several chapters…I could only take just so much of the “Middle School angst;” the “Ooh…I have SUCH a crush on your brother! Will you pass this note to your brother for me?!” stuff. I can only deal with just so much of that stuff, and it went on for FAR too long.

Moving on to where everyone had grown into adults, the storyline was decent; however, I must say, the female narrator’s attempt at voices other than herself are TERRIBLE!

The male narrator was decent; why didn’t HE narrate the part of the NTSB boss guy that was supposed to sound like James Earl Jones?! Every time the female narrator attempted the voice, I wanted to fast forward through those parts!

This narrator has been in several of Mrs.MacLean’s “Color” series books. While her voice is fine while she is just using her normal speaking voice, she’s fine, but she should SERIOUSLY retain from doing any male parts!

I did like that there was background information on why there was still a rivalry going on between the two brothers, Jack and Aaron. The story plot itself was good once you bypass all the middle school angst.
