About this listen

Crisis constantly lurks around the corner, monitored by spies who are always with us. Master of the espionage thriller Robert Littell has crafted a breathtaking story of the legendary CIA — "The Company" to insiders — and a spectacular mole hunt that involves Mossad, MI6, and the KGB.

The Company tells the thrilling story of agents imprisoned in double lives, fighting an enemy that is amoral, elusive, and formidable. It also lays bare a warfare within the company itself, adding another dimension to the spy vs. spy game.

As a child in the 50-60’s I didn’t understand much of the news at the time. I liked learning more about the events taking place at that time.

It was L O N G!

I have put off listening to this one for years. I finally caved in and was pleasantly surprised. The detail was very good and the story line is pretty interesting. It’s definitely a recommended read.

Great read, not historical but close to it.

The story is great. It has great characters (and their development) that I grew to love and/or hate, great distribution of action and drama, and *really* advanced the "historical" piece of "historical fiction."

The absolute biggest drawback was the writing - specifically the dialogue. The dialogue was used as a means to explain obvious context and it took away from the flow of the story.

I'll conclude with: the book is absolutely worth reading/listening to, regardless of your knowledge of the Cold War. The book is definitely written in the most accessible way to people who are totally unfamiliar with the subject. Those with some historical knowledge of the Cold War may find dialogue clunky and tedious - but it's still worth reading.

Also, Scott Brick is the best American-accented narrator.

good story, okay writing

The novel contains many plots and twists. Scott Brick does an outstanding job of bringing the characters to life. Unlike the super hero novels the characters are realistic and human. Listened to it twice.
