great book and outstanding narration

narration is very good and the book is a very good also, well-written and well-researched PRIMER, not a scholarly treatise but not inaccurate either, opening one's horizon to further investigation according to the needs and propensities of each person. Please do not let the hokey title dissuade you.

Book was good...narration was better

I found this to be a very informative look at Paganism for a beginner. Additionally, the narrator made the material even more engaging and was a pleasure to listen to.

great book but one caviat

the single critism I have is that this book should be titled western neo-paganism, not paganism. the authors conveys tons of information about all sorts of traditions but they are almost always told from a Wiccan perspective. the author uses terms like "pagans believe", "pagans do", pagans are", and he almost always means western neopagans or wiccans. If you were looking for a book on paganism as a general academic topic I would not recommend this but if you want to get involved in neopaganism this is a good place to start.

The narration is great imo and there are many tidbits of info that can send you down a rabbit hole toward your own path.

More A Wicca Guide than "General" Paganism

First and foremost I will say the book is expertly read amd written, the information is thought provoking, and many parts of this book are applicable to many different pagan paths. However, the book absolutely sees things through a very traditionally wiccan point of view, though the author follows a druidic path. There is important information to be had throughout and if you're an academic type there is plenty to spark a rabbit hole of research that will last for days, but there are only brief touches on asatru, hellenism, and other forms of pagan revivalist movements. I follow a hellenistic path myself and I found a lot of elements didn't relate to my specific path but it was still interesting to follow along and acquire new knowledge. The book also sparked an interest in new forms of meditation that have been very helpful. In general I would absolutely recommend the book (and I already have) and there are parts i will revisit personally, I just wish it gave a bit more scope in terms of history and basics of other modern paganism practices.

High recommend

I chose this book to learn about paganism. As someone who was raised Christian and always hearing how paganism was “so bad” I was super curious. I was delighted to learn that a lot of things I believe and have been doing all my life stem from paganism. Also how a lot of current customs & traditions have been taken from paganism and “Christianized”. I also think this book is great for anyone how is just curious or thinking of becoming a pagan. Very informative & easy to understand and follow.

Reads like slipping on a glove of knowledge.

Kelly Hotten does an exceptional job bringing this text to life. Already a great coverall reference for anything Paganism, Ms. Hotten brings this book into a whole new level of accessibility. I could listen to her all day and have. The content of this book serves as both a great introduction to modern and historical paganisms and helps to expand on and rekindle understanding of one's existing knowledge.

I truly enjoyed this book.

One of the Best Books on Paganism that I've Ever Read and Listened To!

The narrator did a great job. Her voice was soothing and inspirational! I had already read a paperback copy that I purchased years ago, and I just wanted to hear the book to refresh my memory. Carl McColeman's book on Paganism provided me with everything I needed to know to resume my Pagan path. I'm so glad to have book the printed and Audible versions! I will return to this text time and time again for inspiration!

About as informative and spending 5 minutes on goo

There was a lot of talking about what they were going to talk about later. None of it was anything I already know from basic google searches and general common knowledge. Not sure how this can helpful to anyone.
