Take note!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I can listen to what Robert Spencer has to say. If knowledge is power (as they say), then this is probably the best source.

Would you be willing to try another book from Robert Spencer? Why or why not?

Absolutely. If knowledge is power (as they say), then this is probably the best source.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Bob Reed?

Perhaps

Do you think The Complete Infidel's Guide to Iran needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Perhaps. This subject is arguably the most important of our time.

Ostrich alert

Another eye-opening book from Robert Spencer. Very pertinent to world affairs today. Found it difficult to follow some of the structure of the book without being able to see the text but otherwise five stars.

Most Americans don’t know much about Iran but it’s very important that we do. This book is well written and easy to understand.

I’m a fan of this author and this book like his others was clear and easy to understand.

The criticism of Islam and the religious overview

I liked the overview of different Iranian aspects, including religion, recent history, a dash of ancient history, agreements and disagreements among the factions. But I disliked the story aspect of this. Sometimes it was rngaing, but it was mostly dry.

Terrible

What disappointed you about The Complete Infidel's Guide to Iran?

Everything. I was interested in Iran, saw good reviews, and thought this would be a good pick. I should have looked into the author more and done more research. First, the book is put together in a completely random order. What editor looked at this thing and allowed it to be published? Chapter 7 (yes 7) deals with a history of Persia and clearly should have been the first chapter. Chapter 1 deals with JCPOA, which chronologically is last in order of events. Most puzzling was a chapter that espoused a conspiracy theory that President Obama wanted the JCPOA because he is the son of a Shia Muslim and therefore sympathetic to Iran. Just strange. The early chapters are made up almost entirely of quotes strung together which make them incredibly difficult to listen to. He also throws in random headlines like "ostrich alert" and "not that this has anything to do with Islam" over and over again which are painful to hear again, and again, and again. This is only audible book I've downloaded that I might not actually finish.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Real history or something by an actual scholar

What three words best describe Bob Reed’s performance?

Not that great

What character would you cut from The Complete Infidel's Guide to Iran?

The author

Any additional comments?

This book is a clearly partisan screed with little to no actual scholarship. Listen only if you want your anti-Islam, anti-Iran biases confirmed.

Neocon rubbish

If you want a John Bolton-like view of international affairs and of Iran in particular this book is for you.

Look up author: Pure Propaganda

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Really, really right wing Pro-Israeli people that don't care about verifying facts

What could Robert Spencer have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not partially quoted information that was later disproven: i.e. Obama was born to a Shi'ite father that grew up in Kenya, and sensationalizing everything solely to be a partisan hack, rather than giving a series of accurate facts about Iran.

Have you listened to any of Bob Reed’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Nope

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

There is plenty of evidence that Iran is a danger to the US, but you have to sift through a lot of BS.

Any additional comments?

Needs an editor that verifies claims.
