About this listen

In Holt Douglas' line of work, there's nothing sweeter than a confession of guilt. Assistant D.A. Holt Douglas makes his living exposing lies and sending criminals to jail in Ashley County, Georgia. His job is always easier when defendants, instead of remaining silent, blame someone else or try to excuse their actions. With a confession in his hand, Holt knows a guilty plea will soon follow. But lurking in Holt's past is a dark secret that could end his successful career and possibly his relationship with Angelina, his hoped-for fiancé. When Holt reopens a cold case involving the death of the town's wealthiest businessman - allegedly killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest - Holt doesn't believe it was suicide. Instead, he suspects murder. As he investigates, Holt's own guilt threatens to destroy him and the cause of justice he's sworn to serve. While he knows his own confession could absolve him of his sin, it could cost him his future. Will he survive long enough to uncover the true crime that this small southern town has been hiding?

Ok story

love this author's other books. I listened to the audio version and thought the reader to be awful!!! Worst I've ever heard. This made it hard to enjoy the book.

Great story about forgiveness

This is a touching story about life's mistakes and the opportunities to make them right.

Could not continue with this narrator.

Would you try another book from Robert Whitlow and/or Heath McClure?

Robert Witlow - of course! Love him!
Heath McClure - not unless he learns how to read!

Would you recommend The Confession to your friends? Why or why not?

no - couldn't listen after a few chapters.

Would you be willing to try another one of Heath McClure’s performances?

no.

Do you think The Confession needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

n/a

Any additional comments?

Have to return the book even tho we have always enjoyed Robert Whitlow's writing. McClure made it impossible to even know if the book was any good as we couldn't get past his reading quirks and overall performance.

Truth Prevails

Robert Whitlow remained true to his previous books that I've read. Being a fellow believer, I love how he freely brings the Bible and his Christian beliefs into his stories. I enjoy clean books that leave out the XXX rated scenes and offensive language. The story was a good one and I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a PG rated book.

Good Story, POOR NARRATOR

The story was good. The narrator was probably the worst I’ve ever heard. He had a nice voice, but his inflections were non-existent or often backwards. I’ve heard better narration from junior high readers. His reading made the experience an ordeal. What on earth was Thomas Nelson thinking when they released such amateur narration?! Was he somebody’s nephew who needed a break?

This is an excellent read. There are more twists and turns than an old mountain road.

This story is well worth the time needed to listen and enjoy. The characters are very believable.

Good story, but the narration was awful....

The storyline was good. I love the Christian background. However, the narrator was not good at all! The was no life in his words, every voice was the same, the was no variation.

Good as usual

The narrator was absolutely awful, and ruined the story for me. I had to stop reading after about an hour.

Mr. Whitlow, please change your narrator!

Robert Whitlow's writings are too important from a Christian standpoint to be tainted by a poor narrator. I liked the story, loved the message, just didn't care for the narrator. I hope the rest of his books (although I've listened to just about all of them) don't have the same story teller.
