About this listen

Leader of a human colony planet, Taryn Demara has much more on her plate than maintaining peace or ensuring her people have enough to eat. Due to a virus that affects male embryos in the womb, there is a shortage of men. For decades, her people have enticed ships to their planet and tricked the men into staying. However, a ship hasn't been spotted in eight years. So when the blip finally shows on the radar, Taryn is determined to conquer the newcomers at any cost to ensure her people's survival.

Prince Kason tro de Vallen needs to find a suitable planet for his people to colonize. The Kelderans are running out of options despite the fact one is staring them in the face - Planet Jasvar. Because a group of Kelderan scientists disappeared there a decade ago never to return, his people dismiss the planet as cursed. But Kason doesn't believe in curses and takes on the mission to explore the planet to prove it. As his ship approaches Jasvar, a distress signal chimes in and Kason takes a group down to the planet's surface to explore. What he didn't expect was for a band of females to try and capture him.

As Taryn and Kason measure up and try to outsmart each other, they soon realize they've found their match. The only question is whether they ignore the spark between them and focus on their respective people's survival or can they find a path where they both succeed?

Sci-fi romance via kidnapping!

This audiobook story was about a colony planet of humans who are being slowly becoming extinct due to a virus that makes all Boy babies be stillborn. The women who are the colony government decide to lure in some aliens to try to temporarily help them with the problem, but they lure the tough Kordolian ship of warriors and that causes a change of plans- these guys are looking for a planet to colonize. The leader of the colony who is the heroine decides to travel back to their planet with the warriors to broker a cohabitation agreement, and the price is that she will be the mate to the commander of the ship (who is also the prince of the Kordolian). This story was entertaining and the characters were memorable. As this is the first in this series I’m looking forward to seeing more of this storyline continue. Narration was well done.

The Conquest, but who wins?

THE AUDIO AND IT WAS AMAZING. THERE ARE TWO NARRATORS, MALE AND FEMALE WHICH ADDS A NEW DIMENSION. I WILL SAY THAT WHILE BOTH ARE VERY GOOD, EMMA WILDER DOES MALE VOICES SO WELL, I FORGOT IT WAS HER READING SOME PARTS. IT ISN'T STRICTLY MALE / FEMALE CHARACTERS, MORE WHEN YOU ARE IN THE HEAD OF THE MALE JEFFREY KAFER SPEAKS, AND WHEN IN THE FEMALE HEAD, EMMA WILDER TALKS. I LOVED READING THE BOOK AND NOW MONTHS LATER LISTENING BROUGHT IT ALL BACK AND MORE.
Ms.Donovan has given us another world that is as captivating as her dragon worlds. She is a master at creating characters with strength, humor, and passion. Now in space, we find new worlds with characters we love and can't wait to learn more about.

Female space warrior, Taryn, is also the leader of her small planet with limited technology, as planned when Earth colonized Jasvar. They didn't realize they had doomed them when a virus destroys all male children in the womb. Taryn will do what she has to do and has done to repopulate their planet. That includes luring spaceships and tempting the personal to stay.

Little did Prince Kason of Kalderan, an esteemed general, know what he was getting into when he began a mission to find out what happened to some of his missing people from space missions, and to find another planet to lessen his crowded planet. A patriarchal society, he was not prepared for Taryn, or how attracted they were to each other.

There are two planets with characters and societal rules that do not jive. Will this couple be able to come together politically to provide for the needs of both planets? Will they be able to get past their differences to help their people and fight their enemies? During it all, will their differences keep them apart or draw them together?

Great start to a new series!

The love that develops between the main characters made this book a great read. Although I appreciate the efforts of the narrators, I really felt they should have had a different voice for the male lead.

Loved it

Great world Jessie has created! Loved the characters and the inspiration that females can do more than the traditional female duties. The audio I was a bit disappointed because they spoke just like robots at times. Other than that it is a great story over all and I can’t wait to read what’s next.

Taryn & Kasen

I loved this story, I’ve read it before just wanted to hear the audiobook. The female narrator was smooth for me loved her take on the characters. The male narrator took some time to get used too, he’s voice though lovely spooked me at first. But he does a great Kasen lol. Definitely recommend such a complex world with so many interesting alliances, species etc.

Did Jessie Donovan write this book?

Where do I begin? The story is OK but would have been sparklingly better with the kind of character development and world building that makes the dragon series so engaging. I didn't warm up to these characters at all which made the story less interesting. The language usage was rather simple and the overuse of contemporary colloquialisms that would hardly be in use on an Earth colony 200 years in the future.4
