An egg worth more than its weight in gold. A mysterious operative known only as Owl. An eagle-watcher who sees more than she should. The city of the gods. Elantris once stood as the symbol of all that is beautiful. A sprawling metropolis of unrivaled grandeur, it was a symbol of power and strength, built to be as imposing as it was magnificent. The only thing more glorious than the city itself was its inhabitants, Godlike beings, with silvery skin and hair of the purest flowing white. Able to create powerful magics with a mere wave of their hands, the Elantrians were able to heal mortal wounds and create any object they desired. But Elantris fell...10 years ago.

Critic reviews
"A feast for the senses, The Copper Bracelet continues the standard of excellence established by The Chopin Manuscript. Action, intrigue, suspense, they are all there. Another certified no-question-about-it-winner from a remarkable collection of talent. Bravo." (Steve Berry)
"What a blast to collaborate with some of the greatest suspense writers around on the thriller event of the year." (Joseph Finder)
"I can't think of a more enjoyable writing experience in my twenty-five years of being a fiction author than writing The Copper Bracelet and its predecessor, The Chopin Manuscript. We writers spend way too much time by ourselves in dark rooms, and it was a delight to emerge from the cave and hang out, so to speak, with my peers. I have to say that I sat down to read the manuscript with more than little trepidation. I needn't have worried. I was blown away...[and was] fascinated to see how a group of authors with vastly varied writing styles and approaches to creativity produced such a cohesive thriller with a relentlessly fast-paced narrative. (And, okay, I'll admit, I got a voyeur's kick in seeing how my talented co-authors ply their craft.)" (Jeffery Deaver)

Story
It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

Story
Every object has a ghost. There is a small yellow backpack - half unzipped, mouth yawning to the pavement, contents strewn around it (a banana, an exercise book, a pair of scissors) - abandoned on a suburban footpath. Ten feet away, the rubber stamp of tyres, resisting clamped brakes, mount the curb and cut across the path. The tracks come to an end at a crippled stop sign. The street, a tree-lined suburban road dappled in late-afternoon sunlight, is calm. But anyone walking past can feel the ghosts: the prickle on the back of their necks that tells them something happened here.

From serving a stint in West Virginia’s Alderson Prison, because she “trusted the wrong kind of fella,” to ...

Difficult to Follow
This was hard to listen to, it jumped all over the place and I had a hard time keeping track of it. Albeit I only got to the third chaper before I just stopped. It was just too confusing.

too much
This story started well but soon became so complicated and going in so many directions and so filled with 'we thought it was this, but now we know it's that' moments that I really didn't much care after a while what the copper bracelet was and why anyone would go to so much trouble for it . . .

I was amazed how many writers could intertwine a gripping story. I would certainly recommend this audio production.

Just When You Knew...YOU DIDN'T..
Where does The Copper Bracelet rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
High, no doubt. The subtle change in the feel of the story as the authors change is wonderful.
What other book might you compare The Copper Bracelet to and why?
Nothing I've heard or read to date.
Have you listened to any of Alfred Molina’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
He is a marvel. His "females" are done expertly. Not easily accomplished without becoming silly or absurd, he's a master narrator.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Same as my headline "Just when you knew..YOU DIDN'T"
Any additional comments?
Couldn't help wonder how much the authors deliberately and in good humor took their sections totally off in another direction of the previous one just for the hell of it LOL, it all worked beautifully.

Great Listen!!
Once you start, you won't want to stop. The pace is great. I only listen in time limited increments. I couldn't wait to get back to the book. Highly recommended.

Twists and Turns
The Copper Bracelet had more twists and turns in it than a bag of pretzels. I would have liked to have seen more character development from each author or have each author develop a character as well as the plot. A great read, I look forward to more of these collaborations in the future.

Fast and furious, well narrated and scored
With a different author for each chapter the roller coaster action never slows down. Loved the story, twists and turns, narrator, music, and the geographic, political, & scientific scope. Great fun!

Interesting flow.
What did you love best about The Copper Bracelet?
Overall it was not quite as stimulating as the previous collaboration. In the beginning it was a little bit hard to follow. The uniqueness of this collaboration is pleasantly unpredictable with a plethora of cliff-hangers and edge-of-your-seat developments.
