About this listen

Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper is cynical and loyal, and she doesn’t think she’s the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She’s also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her “the Duff”, she throws her Coke in his face.

But things aren’t so great at home right now, and Bianca is desperate for a distraction. She ends up kissing Wesley. Worse, she likes it. Eager for escape, Bianca throws herself into a closeted enemies-with-benefits relationship with him.

Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out Wesley isn’t such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. Suddenly Bianca realizes with absolute horror that she’s falling for the guy she thought she hated more than anyone.

Very different from the movie but loved it anyway. Good narrator. I enjoyed it a lot!

OK, so I watched the movie a while ago, and I accidentally found the book the other day. As other's have stated, it's nothing like the movie. The names are the same, and that's about it. That being said, I really enjoyed the story still. I wasn't sure about the narrator at first, but she grew on me. I'll definitely come back for another listen from time to time.

A little more of an R rating, opposed to the movie

I really enjoyed this book! I love the way we see these characters transform so much throughout the story. As their layers were peeled back and I saw the heart of who they really are, I feel harder and harder for them.

This book does a great job of showing the struggles teens face in high school, and the value of good friends. It made me laugh and cringe a bit at times with memories of that time in my own life.

I read this book originally, but I did enjoy listening for a reread.

Such a great book!

It was hilarious and it gave me goosebumps and chills down my spine as well I loved the thrill of would give you when Bianca talked to Wesley and he would flirt with her. Funny thing is i l kind of got jealous 😂😂

Great book

I'd give it 3 stars for the audio version and 4.5 for the actual story. I felt like the narrator had almost a bit of a lisp. (Or maybe I've been saying Wesley wrong. I think wes-ly. She pronounced it wez-ly.) But the story is great!

Great story, so-so audio

This book is about 10 times better than the movie. But.... it's also very different too. The performance was mediocre but what really got me was the emotions in the story :)

Really good story

I read this book when I was about 11, but the understanding I gained from it 10 years later is now much clearer.

I was expecting this to be similar to the movie. I was VERY wrong. It's a whole different story. Not worse, not better, completely different and great in its own way. I love both the book and the movie.

Not the Movie

I LOVE this book! The author wrote and exceptionally relevant story and obviously she would when she experienced it first hand. The disappointment comes with the narrator. I didn't particularly like how she portrayed the male voices. She would have been better off just reading it. I know that's not how it's supposed to be done but since the whole story is in Bianca's POV she could have gotten away with it.

Great book, mediocre reader.
