About this listen

The road to love is paved with good intentions.

Life had never been particularly kind to Annie Ramsey. She was poor, uneducated, and without any prospects except misery and pain at the hands of her brother, or whomever he decides she ought to marry. But when a handsome, kind stranger offers her another way, she must decide if she is brave enough to change her situation or if she dares to hope for more.

Duncan Bray could not resist the urge to help the young woman he found in the wintery chill of Yorkshire, feeling driven to save her from the dismal life she lived. Taking her to London and introducing her to a new life there would provide opportunities for her beyond what she ever could have imagined. But he never dreamed how this particular good deed would change everything for him as well.

I truly enjoyed this book in the Arrangements series. Duncan was one of my favorite characters in books 1-3...and this just solidified my fondness of him. The narrator's Scottish Brogue was done quite well. Tibbie was a HOOT. Mary Anne... well...she needs some serious discipline.

Absolutely loved the book. Can't wait to begin the next.

BEAUTIFUL

This is an engaging book with an impressive and interesting group of loyal friendships and family. The writing is good, and I look forward to more in the series. I wish I hadn't had to suspend my sense of disbelief at the end that she could spring back so easily. And the dialogue at the end of the epilogue seemed inappropriate as well. There is no PTSD in a fairy tale?

Unique bond between the families

As book 4 of the series, I was pleasantly surprised that this probably the most exciting and steamy of the series yet!

I’ll forgive Connolly for skipping some of the regency etiquette of the time in order to deliver a more flirtatious and exhilarating romance. The characters were sweet and compelling, and the storyline had the perfect climax.

As usual, the narrator delivered perfectly!

I listened to this everyday as often as I could util the book finished. I love the moment when Dunkin and Anni have their first kiss. I bet anyone who reads this would want to get a guy just like Dunkin or any of his friends 😘. I also want to say that the narrating was impeccable, she kept you engaged every second of the book!

I enjoyed every second of this story it's so good!

Remarkable, simply remarkable. I don’t wish to make my life comparable but it certainly makes me feel as if I wrote a book about my life and wedding day, It would sound spot on to this one.

The beauty within causes tears.

Love the story and narration but there is background noise, as though an old recorder was used. Very distracting.

Great story

I have loved all the books in this series thus far. it's taking quite a bit of discipline to not just forget everything I have to do and keep listening.

Often throughout this book, you shall notice that when it says "he said roughly" or "she said with a quaver in her voice" or other such emotive tips for the narrator, the narrator simply opts not to include them. It's rather disconcerting, and if they'd included them, I would be glad to give the narrating five stars, as the voices were different for each character, the narrator has a nice voice for the work, and their reading pace and flow was natural and easy to listen to. However, the inconsistencies in the voicing pulled me somewhat out of the story each time it occurred, which was rather disappointing.
