About this listen

Soon to be a major motion picture starring Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba!

In this second volume, Roland encounters three mysterious doorways on a deserted beach along the Western Sea. Each one enters into a different person's life in New York - here, he joins forces with the defiant young Eddie Dean and with the beautiful, brilliant, and brave Odetta Holmes in a savage struggle against underworld evil and otherworldly enemies. They also become the companions, forming a ka-tet, who will assist him on his quest to save the Dark Tower.

Featured Article: The Best Audiobook Series of All Time by Genre

What makes a good audiobook series? There are as many answers to this question as there are listeners. For some, it might be epic battles. For others, it might be ongoing romantic twists and tensions. For still others, it might be elongated character studies or an in-depth analysis of a particular time and place. But the universal element of a truly great series is that it sticks with you long after the last word. These are our favorites from every major genre.

Engaging Storytelling • Complex Characters • Immersive Worldbuilding • Blended Genres • Emotional Delivery

This is my least favorite story of the series but it is still a well told tale. It's also a necessary read for the stories that follow. If you like The Gunslinger, read this. If you don't particularly care for it don't be disheartened; consider it a stepping stone to Wastelands.

The Weakest in the Series but Solid

At first I was less than impressed by the performance, but quickly came to enjoy it. The story and writing were both fantastic.

Amazing

This book rewards those who made it past book one. I started there totally unexposed to this series and book one was rough at first and got better and then book two made me voracious, I could not stop reading it! what a wild tale.

Head trip

Loved it. Narrator sounds like Italian mafia, but it worked. Good sequel to The Gunslinger.

An alright follow-up to The Gunslinger

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I read it when I was much younger but hearing it told by the incredible narrator with his many voices was fantastic.

Great Book!

The blending of western folk hero with science fiction brings two of my favourite genre's together.

Great story, unpredictable, and fun

Would you listen to The Dark Tower II again? Why?

yes. Theres a lot of subtle information in the story that I'd like to go over again.

The King of Story

Of the dozen or so audiobooks I've binged this summer, this performance is by far the best. The combination of Kings writing style, and Mullers ability to switch characters and perform with such great pace is what makes The Drawing of the Three such a fantastic listen. Bravo.

Amazingly written, beautifully read

This being the second of the series , but much better then the first. I look forward to continuing the journey with Roland. I felt Frank Muller did a fantastic job with the narrating, I just wish the sound producers had done a better job. There was a lot of back ground noise and dead spots, as if we were catch the times they paused to take a break. All and all it was great.

Hooked even more !

I tried reading this series many many years ago but my stubbornness lost, I read maybe 2 Chapters of book one and gave up...silly silly me. With audio books I can now be apart of the Dark Tower fans and understand their obsession. Now onto the Wastelands, not wasting anytime. 😃❤

Took this constant reader 25 years...
