While every book is excellent, in particular, The Great Divorce was outstandingly excellent in every way. Should be a play.

The Great Divorce audio is outstanding

The wonderful collection of wisdom and teachings of traditional Christianity. I must read for everyone.

Awesome!

All narrators work wonderfully with the brilliant writing of C.S. Lewis. I think my favorite was the Screwtape Letters, which was read by a gentleman who seems perfectly suited to the role. At some times I felt myself in the weeds, but it’s just more incentive for me to listen again- which I will!

Loved it.

CS Lewis communicates the truth without any watering down, God’s Word distilled uniquely in many writings, Go’s plan for humankind from the beginning of creation. Thank you CS. May this note of thanks be delivered by a heavenly being. 🙏

CS Lewis had a mind that only comes around once in a generation. He was a treasure to the believer.

Overall - It took me a really, really long time to finish this as the books are all so different and they can be a bit too much. But I believe there’s something for everyone to take from this collection, especially from the first book.
Mere Christianity - Fascinating thoughts about what it means to be a Christian and a human
The Screwtape Letters - Quite odd but entertaining in its oddity, a look at human vices
The Great Divorce - A dream-like fiction of the afterlife, salvation, and human self-obsession
Miracles - Heavily philosophical, some interesting nuggets but much, much less accessible
The Problem of Pain - A slog to get through, seemingly random walk reaching more and more conclusions based on countless assumptions
A Grief Observed - Relatable and sad ruminations on the impact of his wife’s expected death on him and his faith
The Abolition of Man - Philosophical take on whether there really are any values and what the contrary means for man
The Weight of Glory - This is the most disparate collection of works in this audiobook. Transcripts of talks on various topics. Lots of interesting reflections, hard to summarize.
George MacDonald -

There’s quite a lot here

I’ve read most of these many times, and this excellent production has fed me with wisdom and Grace again. I was not familiar with the final selection that reminded me of Pascal’s Pensées: some esoteric, some dahlia bulbs that flower spectacularly.

Excellent, in every way
