About this listen
All that remains…
If Nox and Amaris are ever to have the life together they've always hoped for, they will have to use all the power and strength within them to protect their continent. When powerful enemies from Sulgrave wielding unspeakable access to magic threaten to shatter their world for good, they must join with Raascot's military, the reevers, and an unlikely ally from the mountains to have any hope of saving their kingdoms. Together, their forces press north across deadly wastelands, facing unknowable threats, impossible battles… and new questions of what their fate truly holds.
Their entire lives have been building toward this moment. Caught between faith and frenzy, questions and identity, love and lust, past and present, Nox and Amaris's story draws to an explosive conclusion as they fight once and for all to protect their people, their future, and each other.

Marlow needs to believe she's crazy. The alternative would mean embracing the gift—or curse—shared by her mother and grandmother: she can see angels and demons, including a dark and haunting entity who's been with Marlow her entire life. At least, she believes that's all he is until a fae from the Nordic pantheon strolls into her life and informs her that she's been sharing a bed with the Prince of Hell.

Rosemary Thorpe has always been a bit different. She has the uncanny and unfortunate ability to foresee people’s deaths, which tends to land her in hot water. Well, not actual hot water—where it lands her is a place between worlds called Fern’s School for Wayward Fae, where Rosemary learns that her powers come from being part fae. At Fern's School, Rosemary meets others who are part fae—including Trym, her banshee roommate whose screams can kill, and Essie, a djinn who grants wishes. I have never been favored by the gods. Far from it, thanks to Zeus. Living as a cursed office clerk for the Order of Thieves, I just keep my head down and hope the capricious beings who rule from Olympus won’t notice me. Not an easy feat, given San Francisco is Zeus’ patron city, but I make do. I survive. Until the night I tangle with a different god. The worst god. Hades. For the first time ever, the ruthless, mercurial King of the Underworld has entered the Crucible—the deadly contest the gods hold to determine a new ruler to sit on the throne of Olympus.

So when the madame of a notorious brothel in a far-off city offers a king's ransom to purchase Amaris, Nox ends up taking her place—while Amaris is drawn away to the mountains, home of mysterious assassins.

Al wrapped up in nice neat bows
I liked the series overall, but this book got to be predictable as the author worked to neatly tie everything up. This book also had an odd flow to it wherein every chapter seemed to conclude with a final cliffhanger or some grave foreboding...it was weird and created a jerking feel to the story. I was left feeling ready for the story to be finished.

Likeable characters
Unique storyline I hadn't quite heard before. Every time I thought I had the story figured out, there was another twist or added character or drastic mood change.

Action adventure Love in a little bit of smut!
this is an amazing book series I had so much fun listening to it. once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to listen to Piper CJ's next series of novels. and if you've ever seen Piper it's hard not to picture her in one of the heroin roles! I can't wait for the next listen...

A Perfect Ending
Not happy nor sad, the ending of this book - this series - was perfect. Don't get me wrong, there are certainly moments of laughter and tears throughout, but I couldn't be any more pleased with the ending. (Though, I'll admit, I hope for more stories in this universe. 🤞🤞🤞)
