About this listen

The daughter of a pagan priestess believes Noah's prophecy - especially when she discovers the horrifying secret behind her city's primary export. Belief in the One God is dangerous in Cainlan, a city founded on the worship of the god Cain. But when Eliana meets the son of a religious fanatic she is drawn to Shem's caring manner and deep faith. She believes his assertion that the One God will wipe the earth clean of the corruption that fills it, especially when she discovers a terrifying secret known only to those high in the government's ruling council. Though desperate to escape her destiny, Eliana's life has been preordained. Not even Shem's God can rescue her from the fate for which she was born - becoming the next high priestess to Cain.

A Good Listen!

I don’t usually read many books from this genre, but I really enjoyed this one. The narration brought the story to life and held my interest throughout. The story was well thought out, complete and will keep you listening. I will be watching for this author in the future.

Interesting idea, but I wasn't a fan.

I really wanted to like this book but I almost gave up because I was a little bored and didn't really like any of the characters. One thing that annoyed me was the narration. It was amateur -ish. If the narrators are bad they can really hurt the entire story.
I ended up wanting to see how the author would get to the end, already figuring out the end of the story. However, there are some improbable twists that I just wasn't buying.
It was an interesting idea but I wasn't a fan of this book.

A modern day tale of old

Same story but with a little bit of modern technology. The cities need energy to run the workings of the cities. Where does a pagan civilization get fuel to make the energy to run the cities? In an era of blood sacrifices to a pagan god, will there be deliverance by the one true God? Interestingly good read.

A Romance For Shem Bar Noah

The narrator was good, but needed to breathe. She read as if there were no periods ending any sentences, so times when she briefly stopped sounded a bit weird with sing-songy rhythms.

Eliana is the daughter of a high priestess in the worship of Cain as a god. Shem is the son of Noah from the line of Seth and a believer in the One True God. This is the story of how they came to be together.

It's logical, even fitting that worship of the first murderer is accomplished through human sacrifice! Utilizing the reasoning of lotteries and inconvenience of too many mouths to feed is also logical. Anyone who has read L.A. Marzulli, Tom Horn or Derek Gilbert's books or have watched Ancient Aliens on the History Channel know about ancient batteries or solar devices. Legends about Atlantis and Lemuria also speak of such things. "Energy" has it's own characterization.

Eliana's life shows just how ancient goddess worship could have developed. Her mother was particularly power hungry and bloodthirsty. But Eliana was not any of those things. Leaving early from such worship put her in a place to be assaulted and for Shem to be introduced as a hero. He's married. Eliana ends up in a relationship based on clearly paganTemple beliefs. Shem is indeed a man of honor and there are miracles. YHWH has a plan and HIS hand is clearly seen in the story, without being preachy.

Story is exciting, tells of conflicts that people deal with even today. Be sure to listen until the very end because even the "author's note" adds an interesting dimension.

Christian fiction that tackles serious themes.

What made the experience of listening to The Days of Noah the most enjoyable?

I liked the writing style. The author made the scenes come alive. She portrayed accurate historical scenes with bustling cities and sacrificial temple practices. These characters are not barbaric cave people, but normal human people.

What did you like best about this story?

I like that it does not shy away from difficult themes like spousal abuse, the difficulty of building the Ark, the balance between God's provision and human action, and how God can be good and still kill innocent people.

What about Erin Novotny’s performance did you like?

She has a lively but well modulated voice. She performs the characters very well. She is delightful to listen to.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Is the end near?

Any additional comments?

Sci-fi spin on a Bible classic

The characters were well developed and the author did an excellent job at tackling some tough issues still faced by society today. I'm a big fan of historical/biblical fiction and would not have been put off by the seemingly "science-fiction" ideas if the author would have developed them enough to be believable.

This was an amazing rendition of the story of Noah. If you want to read a new story of Noah, this one can't be missed. It is like no other biblical fiction book I have ever read!
