About this listen

When he prevents a murder, one drifter is thrown into a twisted conspiracy that points to the most dangerous gang in Los Angeles.

People are going missing in Los Angeles. But there are no news stories about it.

The authorities aren’t looking into the cases. These people aren’t the type to command headlines.

They’ve fallen through the cracks, making them easy prey for those prowling the streets of LA.

Terrence Rubble, better known as Trouble, is passing through Los Angeles. But when he witnesses a brutal act of violence, he doesn’t hesitate to intervene. He fends off the masked attackers, but not before they promise to make him pay with his life.

The victim, a young woman, manages to whisper a single word into Trouble’s ear. A word that’s the key to uncovering an ugly truth those in power don’t want told. He soon realizes there’s more than meets the eye happening in the bustling suburbs of Los Angeles. It’s part of a decades-long struggle in the California city. And Trouble is determined to blow it wide open...as long as the Death Dealers don’t kill him first.

Another fun, hair-raising story in a great series!

As far as thriller novels go, it’s hard to find any better than those in the Trouble series - and The Death Dealers is no exception. In it, our hero Terrence Rubble (aka Trouble) finds himself pitted against a wide-reaching and ruthless army of corrupt LA cops after trying to stop a brutal beating. What follows is a wild ride full of clever detective work, nerve-wracking action, chilling acts of villainy, and Trouble’s unique blend of rage, humor, and heart.

The Death Dealers is a well-researched (read: authentic) and well-written novel that moves fast and always keeps you on your toes. It’s a cool, fun, and digestible story thanks to the author’s clean style and well-balanced tone - but it also manages to touch on some heartbreaking “from-the-headlines” issues without getting bogged down or preachy. The narrator’s gruff yet crisp performance lends itself very well to the overall feel of the story and its hard-boiled characters.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this and I highly recommend it to anyone who’s after a smart, action-packed thriller with plenty of heart!
