About this listen

Retired actress Guinevere 'Gwinny' Tuffel is finding life hard after inheriting her late father's run-down house and discovering she's broke. But Gwinny is delighted to be at Hayburn Stead for her best friend Tina's wedding to a handsome Italian business magnate. However, before they get the chance to declare 'till death do us part', the husband-to-be is found dead in the library and Tina is accused of his murder.

Convinced of her friend's innocence, Gwinny must uncover the real killer from a pool of larger-than-life suspects, while also suddenly finding herself looking after Tina's expensive and demanding saluki dogs...

Wanted to love it but skipped ahead

With about 3 hours to go I had to skip to the end of the book. I wanted to know who the killer was but I didn't want to plod through every slow detail. I own over 800 audiobooks and have only done this a couple times before.

Enjoyed the story but seemed a bit too long

Although the story was 7 hours, it seemed a bit too long where there were parts in the story that had too much discription and very little progress. I did have to skip a few chapters to get to some progress. Overall I did enjoy the story and how Gwinny would get her friend the soon to be retired detective to help her. I will be listening to the next book.

Dogs steal the show from Gwinnie

Comfy mystery. Great reading. Enough mystery that I didn't guess the ending too soon.

Delightful

Engaging, kept me guessing. Fun characters who I'd like to see again. Really hoping this is the first in a series

Superior writing

This book is too good to be in the cozy category, it really is well done. At first I was turned off by the title Dog Sitter because I do not like cozies with animals solving the mystery, etc However, I listen to several books a week and could not find anything to purchase. This book has great reviews on other sites so I bit the bullet and I am so glad I did. As a dog lover and dog trainer I can truly say the dogs are quite appropriate to the storyline and I enjoyed them thoroughly. While I did figure out who the murderer was, the clues were fair and interesting. The next book will be published early next year, I hope audible is getting ready to give us this next edition.

Absolutely Charming!

This story was well written and a delight that kept me guessing the whole time! I think it was even made better by the excellent performance of Ms McKenzie. She made Antony’s writing feel like it came from a lovely British woman’s heart felt tale. I can hardly wait for the next one!!!

A Fun Read

This was a fun book. At the beginning I thought it was quite silly how the character stumbled into the detective role. I was however able to figure out who it was fairly quickly. But I don't know why or how. So it was fun trying to figure that out. The narrator was great. She did such a great job bringing the book to life. She was enjoyable to listen to.
