About this listen

A chocolate-filled, girl-powered fantasy with a heroine who learns what it means to be a strong, fearsome human (and dragon).

Aventurine is a brave young dragon ready to explore the world outside of her family's mountain cave...if only they'd let her leave it. She's determined to prove herself by capturing the most dangerous prey of all: a human. But when that human tricks her into drinking enchanted hot chocolate, she's transformed into a puny human without any sharp teeth, fire breath, or claws. But she's still the fiercest creature in these mountains - and now she's found her true passion: chocolate. All she has to do is get to the human city to find herself an apprenticeship (whatever that is) in a chocolate house (which sounds delicious), and she'll be conquering new territory in no time...won't she?

A classic fantasy with terrific girl power, perfect for fans of Shannon Hale and Jessica Day George.

Amazing qualities and an original story never seen before!

This was my first audiobook when I was a kid, and coming back to it now, I still love it! Aventurine came for the chocolate, and I came for dragons. We both got what we wanted! Thank you, Stephanie Burgis, for this beautiful gift for kids and adults alike!

Can Chocolate Melt Your Heart?!?

have you ever found yourself wondering what life would be outside what you currently know? Wanting to leave everything you know because somethings just seem worth adventuring? Or you have to prove yourself and you might? In this epic tale of misadventure, self discovery, doubts, miss judgements and self awareness we follow a young dragon making an adventure of a lifetime: not only learning about herself, but about humans and becoming a possible advocate for them in the very end... But does she return to her Family? Or will she adopt the new strangers that show her that becoming one of them is not as bad as it may seem? What will happen to our heroin?

not just for kids

This story was extremely satisfying from beginning to end. No low points at all. Highly enjoyable. Probably good to have a little chocolate on hand while you read.

review by a 7 year old (who loves dragons)

This story was very good, because it had dragons. And dragons are awesome. In the beginning she didn't like humans, and she learns that humans are good.
