About this listen
Fast Track Ham License Series
Here's everything you need to pass your extra class exam, completely updated for the July 1, 2020 to July 1, 2024 examinations.
Note: This audio program is a companion product to the e-book and print editions, which contain over 200 illustrations to support your learning.
The Fast Track to Your Extra Class Ham Radio License explains the reasoning and technology behind each correct answer on the exam so you'll understand and remember the subject matter.
Created by an experienced ham and adult educator, it's like having your own, patient, experienced, good-humored mentor for the exam (one reason Michael is a frequent presenter at major ham conventions).
It's simple: When you understand the material, and you have a context for the material, you remember the answers and pass the test. We might even have a little fun along the way. (This may be the only amateur radio course to teach an astronomical concept with a nacho cheese analogy.)
- Includes every possible question and every answer
- All technical topics explained in clear, plain language.
- Step by step instructions to solve all the math problems
- Incorporates the exclusive Fast Track study plan. We don't just present the material, we teach you the most effective way to learn it.
- Covers questions that will be used until July 1, 2024

Throughout history, scientists have come up with theories and ideas that just don't seem to make sense. These we call paradoxes. The paradoxes Al-Khalili offers are drawn chiefly from physics and astronomy and represent those that have stumped some of the finest minds. With elegant explanations that bring the listener inside the mind of those who've developed them, Al-Khalili helps us to see that, in fact, paradoxes can be solved if seen from the right angle.

Barely 50 years ago a computer was a gargantuan, vastly expensive thing that only a handful of scientists had ever seen. The world's brightest engineers were stymied in their quest to make these machines small and affordable until the solution finally came from two ingenious young Americans. Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce hit upon the stunning discovery that would make possible the silicon microchip, a work that would ultimately earn Kilby the Nobel Prize for physics in 2000.

A physicist speeds across space, time, and everything in between showing that our elegant universe from the Higgs boson to antimatter to the most massive group of galaxies is shaped by hidden symmetries that have driven all our recent discoveries about the universe and all the ones to come. Why is the sky dark at night? Is it possible to build a shrink-ray gun? If there is antimatter, can there be antipeople? Why are past, present, and future our only options? Are time and space like a butterfly's wings? No one but Dave Goldberg, the coolest nerd physicist on the planet, could give a hyper-drive tour of the universe like this one.

What is space? It isn't a question that most of us normally stop to ask. Space is the venue of physics; it's where things exist, where they move and take shape. Yet over the past few decades, physicists have discovered a phenomenon that operates outside the confines of space and time. The phenomenon - the ability of one particle to affect another instantly across the vastness of space - appears to be almost magical.

Fantastic aid for earning my Extra.
Follow the book and take the practice tests and it all comes together. You will learn a few things and memorize a few things but it all comes together. I passed with a 44/50. I highly recommend these fast track books for general and extra (technician probably is great but I don’t start using these until my general).

The very best!
I came away from the FastTrack series with a new friend, Michael Burnette.
His approach is respectfully teaching his life studies in a thorough and sometimes witty, sometimes amusing, and sometimes explaining why it matters, and citing people who helped discover and create the science.
I have always liked radio and electronics, now I have an even greater respect for the science and some of the men that helped create it.
Thanks so much for such capable instructions.
This is my third exploit into amateur radio licensing, and I could not have done it without the audio books, the math lesson books, and the course books. Plus there are the testing resources online that really let you know your strengths and weakness.
Thanks again, my friend!

The number one reason I passed my test!
This audio book is the number one reason that I passed my Amateur Extra Class License test.
I listened to this audio book everyday while on the job for over a month. Then I started taking practice exams using an app on my android phone. After about two months with the audio book and then supplementing that with the practice exams, I took and passed my test on the very first try. The VE, after grading my test, walks up to me and jokingly says, and I quote "You will have to retake your test, because you didn't miss any questions and we can't have that." Then we all laughed! Thanks to this book and a little hard work on my part studying, I am now an Amateur Extra License holder. Thank you to the Author!

Great as Usual, But...
Great - well structured for passing ARRL FCC ham license exams. I've passed the Technician and General exams using the Fast Track series - along with other material. (You should also get the ARRL Exam License Manual - it helps real understanding, especially for the math and complex concepts.) Audio, rather than just printed, provides additional opportunity to 'get it' and to remember concepts. My only frustration is that the purchase of the audio book does include access to all the diagrams referenced in the printed or Kindle books. I've had both Kindle and Audible books before and the ONLY USE of the Kindle book was to look at diagrams. (This makes Kindle book too expensive overall.) All the other content is presented EXTREMELY WELL) by the Author. Just my opinion. REQUEST TO AUTHOR: Please increase price of Audible book SLIGHTLY and provide access to the diagrams/photos.
