About this listen

The dwarves are going to battle for the last time.

There has been no word from the courageous warrior Tungdil since the bitter struggle at the Black Abyss. Dragons, magicians, and the cruel älfar have advanced far into the kingdom Girdlegard, ruthlessly seizing vast areas of land. It seems that the dwarves are facing their next battle with very little hope of survival.

But then the inexplicable happens; a dwarf warrior dressed in black armor returns from the abyss - with a formidable army in tow. This warrior calls himself Tungdil, and for his most loyal friend Ireheart and his allies, this means a new hope. But soon doubts begin arise.... Could this really be Tungdil the dwarf, or is this warrior following his own dark agenda? It is a question of the future of Girdlegard - and the future of all the dwarves.

In the final installment of this spectacular fantasy epic, the greatest of the dwarves' adventures begins....

Critic reviews

"Incorporating wall to wall action with undercurrents of dark humor, Bodyguard of Lightning is a gritty, fast-paced novel with a neat twist. The heroes are orcs - though you wouldn't want to meet any of them on a dark night!" (David Gemmell)

Praise for the Orcs series:

"With grand scale world building, labyrinthine plotlines, extensive backstory and pedal-to-the-metal action, Nicholls captures adventure fantasy at its very best." (Publishers Weekly)

"....A neat idea and Stan Nicholls pulls it off with great panache...enough weird sex to keep the tabloids outraged for weeks. You'll never feel the same about Lord of the Rings." (Jon Courtenay Grimwood)

Love the series. Especially the original trilogy. But it was great to go back to this world.

Book 4, give me more!

Perfectly voiced to life again...continues the story in an unusual way as compared to the first three in the line up.

Good followup

It was with some joy I found this next story in the saga. It was fantastic. The narrator is great and I love the Scottish brough. Like Gimli is reading it. The story had surprises to the end and left you wondering about things and yet tied up the story nicely. Highly recommend.

Long Live the Dwarfs

I was so lost! First 3 books flowed seamlessly from one book to the next. I start book 4 and I honestly thought I had skipped a whole book. Once you get past CHP. 18, I started picking up the storyline. I really wish there was a book in between 3&4, to give explanation of how the characters got to where they are. The most confusing, was Tundeel, probably spelled it wrong lol, It would have been great to know what happened to him over the 250 orbits. Not a bad book, just wish there was a bridge between book 3&4. Once you get a few chapters in, the book begins to pick up speed, new characters begin to stick in your head. other than the gap between the two books, I wish the book was longer! By the time you get a feel for the storyline and characters, the book comes to an end. Pretty good book overall!!

Is it just me??

as always with the dwarves, markus heitz absolutely nailed it. couldn't believe how immersed I was in this book, the first 3 had my attention but this book I just couldn't wait to continue, even now I'm not sure if it was the real tungdil or something else. I've always liked ireheart but after throughout this book it cemented how much more of a leader/king he really could be, but mainly an unstoppable warrior is who he really is.
I just want to know the joke...

absolute perfection..
