About this listen

A town put to the sword. The young forcibly recruited. An old man out for revenge.

The first three books in the Artorian's Archives series, over 36 hours of cultivation adventure!

After his town is put to the sword and the children are taken to replace the fallen, an old man is out for revenge. He’s ready to fail at the most difficult challenge in the world: cultivation.

Too corrupted to even take the first steps, the sly old elder simply agreed with those who told him that it was impossible. Then he quietly ignored them, rubbed his hands together, and started anyway. He had always failed in what he did: He lost his way from the academy, his command was devastated by a Mage, he lost his town, and now his last hopes for the future had been stolen by a group of raiders. The only thing that had never failed him was his sharp mind and philosophy. He would cultivate...no matter what it cost him.

A lifetime of failure can dull and dampen a soul. A reason to live, a goal, can change that in an instant. It is always darkest just before the dawn.

I enjoyed listening to "grandpa's adventures

although the story felt a bit long and my mind was found wandering. I enjoy this series and how it adds to the "divine dungeon" world as a whole. Artorian is definitely a one of a kind character that you want to watch as he makes friends, stops injustices, and helps those he loves

3 great books!

These were very relaxing and thoroughly entertaining, and this you enter the Vanderkerken/Krout world. After seeing the sheer number of books in this series, I can see why offering three up front is hardly a sacrifice! I look forward to continuing the series for as long as this quality can be kept up. So far, so amazing!

Dakota Delivers Elderly Personification to LitRPG

Instead of the fledgling young hero taking the forefront, Krout introduces a grandfatherly approach to the same conditions faced by every other cultivation MC out there in grand fashion. The moments of relatability and philosophical actualization made the MC memorable and original within the genre.

Think of it like this. If the vast majority of LitRPGs rely on wish fulfillment with elven princesses, uninterrupted achievements, and a generalized wish fulfillment complex, this omnibus achieves a desirable outcome without the typical scheme we see so often. That in itself makes the read worthwhile even without the consideration of meaningful character, plot, and world building development. While reading Dakota Krout's previous works certainly contributes to the read, such is hardly a limitation. Just go for it, the ride is worth it.

Best Litrpg

I had seen this series for awhile but never gave it the time, when I saw the bundle for 3 books for the value of one I thought “why not” and I’m am very happy I gave it a try, I never once through this series felt as if the author was backtracking or adding in filler, this is an excellent series and would definitely recommend to anyone

I personally love it.

The story is great! I loved it. Especially when it comes together in places. The characters are lovable and remembarable.
The only downside is the deep depth the cultivation system and ranking system are. I personally didn't mind it. But had to rewind it a few times to let it click into places. But once you get the systems everything is great.

Excellent character development

This series of books is a breath of fresh air in this genre. Having the MC as an aged grandparent was a stroke of genius in is it’s novelty and relatability. As a father and hopefully soon to be grandfather the motivations of the MC are heartwarming!!

Not your typical progression story

This was a great story with a lot of twist and turns. The main character is lovable, and I was really invested in their survival.

The part I found a very different is that it was very intellectual. At times it felt slow, but I never wanted to stop listening. If you’re just looking for a lit RPG type story, this isn’t it.

Overall, I loved it and I will be continuing on this epic journey.

Glad they put it into a collection

Like most books, I like to give the author a chance. Especially, when they try to explain complex ideals and beliefs. The first two books were like listening to an existential/philosophical/anthropology/sociology lecture with a sparse amount of antidotes sprinkled in. However, once the third book kicks in, the story really starts to come into itself and unravel. I did find the protagonist being elderly so awesome. I’m excited to see where his journey takes him.

Also… he reminds me of the little old guy in Dragonball Z 😂
