Publisher's summary

In The Second Assistant, readers across the country found a heroine they loved to love in Lizzie Miller, the smart and witty East Coast girl clinging for dear life to the bottom rung of the Hollywood ladder. But no more coffee runs and sorting thumbtacks by color for Lizzie; she's been promoted. As first assistant to Scott Wagner, now president of The Agency and one of Hollywood's premiere movers and shakers, she's making decisions and learning the ins and outs of the business. But unlike the other airhead assistants, she's not being wooed by the glamour and mystique of Lala Land. At least, that's what she tells herself. But with a fabulous boyfriend and visions of Harry Winston diamonds and a black AmEx dancing in her head, it is getting harder for Lizzie to keep her pumps firmly on the ground.

In The First Assistant, Clare Naylor and Mimi Hare have again joined forces to take a wry and hilarious look at the wheeling, dealing, schmoozing, and snubbing that make Hollywood the cutthroat capital of the world. Listeners are hungry for more, and The First Assistant is just the romp into the red-carpet world that they crave.

Clare Naylor is the author of five previous novels, including Love: A User's Guide and Dog Handling. Mimi Hare was director of development for a Hollywood production company, where she worked on such feature films as Jerry McGuire and As Good As It Gets. Now both authors are busy writing screenplays for a range of studios and production companies, including Miramax and Disney. Both live and work in London.

Great story! Looking for more!

Like the reader from the first book better. This one was dry and sarcastic the whole book.

Enjoyed the sequel to the 2nd Assistant

Lizzie continues on her stumbling road to sucess. Has the things that make a book good, supportive friends, a plot twist and a happy ending. Great summertime book.

Loved it!

After just finishing The Second Assistant I felt the need to find out what happened to Lizzie next. I'm so glad as I liked the first, I loved the second. It was wittier, had a better pace and the plot was more developed. It's a winner of a summer read - fun, exciting and completely insane.

Way too ridiculous

I really wanted to enjoy this book but it ended up disintegrating into a film school students ridiculous fantasy. Completely absurd.

Fun, just like the first one

An enjoyable little read. Not a literary masterpiece, but fun characters and story. Definitely worth a listen if you like this type of story.

Much better than Second Assistant

This book was much more entertaining than the first book, Second Assistant (but helps to read it before reading this one). The story gave a deeper insight into celebrities and movie making.
Narrator for this book made the book very enjoyable (again, better than the first book). This is the second book I've listened to narrated by Shelly Frasier, and I chose this book in great part because of her. She does a great job with the character voices without making it overly cheesy, especially with male voices.

Hilarious

This book and narrator had me laughing the whole way through. What absurdities there are in Hollywood, but very funny. I had to get used to the narrator's flat voice, but it really does suit the character. Her Southern leading man accent is dead on and she makes him come to life. There is a lot of bad language in this and some scenes you would not want to listen to without headphones or privacy.

Loved It!

First off, this is a sequel to the Second Assistant. Make sure you get that first. But what I really enjoyed about this book was the narrator. She was GREAT! Such a pleasure to listen to, she also did all of the accents really good.
I laughed out loud a couple of times.
I highly recommend it.
