About this listen

With the boys' new fort finally finished, everything that summer was going great. And then the killer showed up.

During the summer of 1987, from their tree house fort in the woods, neighborhood boys Tim, Scott, and Luke spot a man holding a gun to missing 16-year-old Molly Peterson's back. The problem is, nobody believes their story, not even the police. As search efforts to find Molly dwindle, the boys know that she, and the man with the gun, are nearby - and that they must now find and save Molly themselves. A growing sense of honor and urgency forces the boys to take action - to find Molly, to protect themselves, and to stand guard for the last long days of summer.

A good listen

I enjoyed this book. The narrator did a good job and was easy to listen to. It kept my interest for the whole story.

Non-eventful

From other reviews, I expected more. Some parts of the story was disturbing, which I didn't realize in advance and didn't expect, but overall the story was non-eventful. I'm neutral on this book. I'm not overly fond of it, nor am I'm able to recommend it. I never felt compelled to rush back to complete it; which I do when a book has hooked me. For me, it was only a "filler" book to occupy my long commute to work. The story where every adult (parents and police) accuse the children in the story of fabricating a lie isn't believable. Maybe not improbable, but not truly believable either.

Good but nothing spectacular

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Nothing about this book grabbed me and pulled me in. It was a nice easy read/listen there was nothing wrong with it, but there was nothing outstanding about it either.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Deeper character developement

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Not sure

Do you think The Fort needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No, it just did not grab me enough to read a second book.

The story was interesting.

Props to the narrator for his acting skills! I loved the way he acted out all of the different characters.

Really like it

Any additional comments?

I'm really enjoying this book. It's a comfortable pace and it's interesting, wondering what will happen to the victim and how it all ties together.

I think the author is good and will improve to be even better. Some of the dialogue could be more believable. Ignore the rude reviewers. Thank you for writing this and making it available on Audible. I'm looking forward to more of your work.

Great book, but just short of amazing.

This was a great story, told very well by the author. I loved the simplicity of the plot, but I think it could have used about a 15% increase in volume. There just seemed to be too many leaps of logic and suspended reality to fully connect all of the dots, for me. I think the author could have padded this one just a little bit, and the overall book would have been the better for it. The story really is quite short. Some of the characters were forced to make some decisions and react in ways that just wasn't completely explained, either through words or character development. Just not enough information. That being said, this was a great book, and the narration was top notch.

Eric Davis always writes characters you care about

I always like books that when they are over you wish there was a follow up book so that you could see where the characters are now. Almost like you have a good friend that moved out of town and the second they pull out of the driveway you miss them.

Great book but fowl language

This book would have been MUCH better if they would have left out the cursing.
