About this listen

Mike held his son's hand and told him to "hold tight", and he could feel the little hand dig into his. But the crush got bigger, and the little hand slipped from his - and Mike felt that horrible panic, as if a wave hit them at the beach and it was washing his baby out with the tide.

The separation lasted only a few seconds, 10 at the most, but Mike would never forget the spike in his blood and the terror of those brief few moments.

Tia and Mike Baye never imagined they'd become the type of overprotective parents who spy on their kids. But their 16-year-old son, Adam, has been unusually distant lately, and after the suicide of his classmate, Spencer Hill - the latest in a string of issues at school - they can't help but worry. They install a sophisticated spy program on Adam's computer, and within days they are jolted by a message from an unknown correspondent addressed to their son: "Just stay quiet and all safe."

Meanwhile, browsing through an online memorial for Spencer put together by his classmates, Betsy Hill is struck by a photo that appears to have been taken on the night of her son's death...and he wasn't alone. She thinks it is Adam Baye standing just outside the camera's range, but when Adam goes missing, it soon becomes clear that something deep and sinister has infected their community.

For Tia and Mike Baye, the question they must answer is this: When it comes to your kids, is it possible to know too much?

This is the first Harlan Coben book I have read and I am HOOKED. I am a big James Patterson fan and Harlan gives James a run for his money. I loved how the stories intertwined and I would have never guessed it in a million years! Highly Recommended!!!

Fantastic

I remember reading Coben's "Tell No One" & I was so hooked on it...the same here.
He has the great gift to make random events all come together in a way you just didn't see coming.
All I can say is "WOW" & bring on the next one.

Another Coben Great

Good book, but too many character names to remember. Aldo, skipped around pretty much. However, I enjoyed the story.

Allot Going On

Good narration hampered by lack of any pause between scenes. Unnecessarily confusing. Otherwise consistent with authors good mystery writing, but a little predictable for the first time.

Narration getting hurried

Problems in 2015

This was my first Coben. Definitely won't be the last! Great story very entertaining. Had me guessing nonstop. Scott was great and was not over dramatic or too loud. I listen through speakers while cleaning my house. Finished in two days, must sleep. I had to force myself to shut it off. No bad review here! Go for it, you'll love it!

EDGE OF MY SEAT ACTION!

The Only flaw is that there are too many characters to keep track of in an audio.

A great story

Up until the last hour, this was definitely a 5 star book. Family angst themes abound: guilt, love, privacy rights, protection, trust; all are explored. As a parent I recognized all of the basic feelings and ethical dilemmas portrayed. However some of them are distinctly dark when taken to extremes.

I normally love Scott Brick's narration. Unfortunately, this time his delivery didn't have much variance in energy or tone. And I absolutely love Coben's writing, as I did for this book. He weaves tight plots and manages to keep several story lines all balanced until they come together in a very satisfying way. In this book though, the final plot resolution seems a little preposterous to me. Clever, yes; just too much of a stretch.
