Publisher's summary

An attitude? Why not? After all, what would you do if you were abducted by aliens and transported into a strange new universe away from your home, your family - everything familiar to you? Would it make you happy? Not likely!

Now imagine you're stronger, faster, and more coordinated than every alien species you encounter. Would you start kicking some ass? Of course you would!

This is the story of human superiority in the galaxy, a gritty, realistic profile of a young Navy SEAL who doesn't like aliens very much - and he makes them pay for the bad mood he's in.

Read it, don't listen

I read this book many years ago and enjoyed the first dozen books. I waited a long time for an audible version to come out. I highly recommend that you read this book and do not listen to the audible version. The man reading this stretches his vocal cords to the point of hurting your ears. The Listener is in pain while the reader makes a bad effort to change his voice for the different characters. He should just read the book without trying to make voices. Keep going in the series because the rest of the books are well worth reading.

listen at 1.25+ speed

I've read these books and love them. however the narrator chose an absurdly false deep voice for Adam. it strains his voice so much that theirs no emotion just a flat stupid sounding deep voice. listen at a faster speed it makes that absolutely awful voice better.

Good short story

The narrator seemed to overstrain his voice for characters. Ben was too cartoon sounding. The Iranian character sounded like some Chicago mafia...totally unrealistic. Maybe a PC move for narrator but left the story blah. The protagonist human was vocalized as some deep talking American that seemed a reach for this narrator.
The overall story was clever and quite a unique perspective on these types of tales.

The narrator has a main character’s voice who sounds like Steve Uriel!

I have started and stopped this audiobook around six times due to the narrator. His voices are pretty horrible except when he uses his regular voice. One character’s voice sound exactly like Steve Uriel from the tv show Family Matters. WHY WHY WHY would anyone use that tone/voice for a main character? He is also very monotoned. The series has promise, I think. I finally finished the book but I just can’t keep listening to the rest of the series unfortunately.

human chronicles

I love this story for it's simplicity and human/alien tribalism. we are all of the human race yet we lie steal and kill each other.

ive been waiting for this series. but...

story is good and light.something i can put on and listen to while i drive from job to job. i want the whole series on audible. a problem is the narrator. great voice and easy to understand. however the human voices are the most alien or pompous in the book. when i read the book the character's voices in my head where much more relatable.

Voice characterizations are way off

I've read and love the entire series, so I was happy to see and Audible version come out. Mr. Sanda's narration is fine, however the voices he chose for Adam Cain and Riyad Tarazi are way off. I can see where someone might read the books and see Adam Cain as larger than life, and give him a voice to match. I guess I just never imagined him as sounding like The Tick.
Riyad Tarazi is a tall, handsome smooth operator, and not an Orc from LOTR. I've listened to many audio books where the actor's interpretation of the character's voice doesn't match my own, and that's fine as long as it doesn't detract from the story. However, the voice for Tarazi was so bad that I had to stop listening. As I said, everything else was fine, but those two characters were like nails on a chalkboard.

Such a wonderful story

I enjoyed the story and I must say I very much liked the speaker. Don't understand all the hate around it here.
The book is very entertaining and full of surprises, I can't recommend it enough. Especially considering that this book is free!
