About this listen

Geography professors in a failed marriage of convenience inconveniently reconnect for an emergency mission in this swoony historical-fantasy rom-com.

Professor Elodie Tarrant is an expert in magic disasters. Nothing fazes her—except her own personal disaster, that is: Professor Gabriel Tarrant, the grumpy, unfriendly man she married for convenience a year ago, whom she secretly loves.

Gabriel is also an expert in magic disasters. And nothing fazes him either—except the walking, talking tornado that is his wife. They’ve been estranged since shortly after their wedding day, but that hasn’t stopped him from stoically pining for her.

When magic erupts in a small Welsh village, threatening catastrophe for the rest of Britain, Elodie and Gabriel are accidentally both assigned to the case. With the fate of the country in their hands, they must come together as a team in the face of perilous conditions like explosions, domesticated goats, and only one bed. But this is easier said than done. After all, there's no navigational guide for the geography of the heart.

Critic reviews

"A funny, cozy romantasy with a splash of Indiana Jones. I can't wait for the next installment!"—Julia Quinn, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Bridgerton series

“The Geographer’s Map to Romance charts a trajectory from first dances to second chances, equal parts earnest and tongue-in-cheek, and entirely, madly charming. Holton has done it again with her trademark frothy, joyous storytelling, this time celebrating love and landscape (often sublime; sometimes explosive). Her writing positively sparkles with magic.”—Brigitte Knightley, author of The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy

"India Holton’s books are unlike anything else in romance right now—and that’s very much a compliment!"—Paste Magazine

Pirates, witch’s, magic, ornithologists, geographers and the occasional carnivorous bird. Every novel is the perfect wonderful escape into romantic adventures! Live life, read them all!

it's was a good book but all the scientific/magic jargon was a little too much and quite confusing. also the story line was hard to follow. it wasn't as cleverly done as her previous series which I absolutely adored.

not as well done as previous books

The story is already something I knew I was going to love but her narration is, once again, top tier.

Elizabeth Knowelden is DELIGHTFUL
