About this listen

This radio dramatization of the classic movie, starring Bob Hope, originally aired on April 3, 1949.

The Screen Director's Playhouse featured adaptations of famous movies and called upon the directors to introduce and highlight their work. After each show, the director and stars gathered around the microphones to reminisce about the actual making of the film.

An absolutely wonderful adaption of Bob's film. Very funny. Great support from Shirley Mitchell, Shelton Leonard, & especially June Foray! The ad libs are priceless.

This was very hard to listen to because the dialogue is quiet and the laugh track is outrageously loud.

Too bad, because I think it was a funny story and I usually like bob hope.

Terrible engineering
